I will take Ralph Dale Earnhardt Jr., for two points, Alex! For the record, I was following Jr since he was in Busch and have always liked him. He is not his daddy, but he comes a hell of a lot closer than any of the other 42 cars that line up Sunday!
rubbin is racin!

Tony Stewart!! He has 2 NASCAR championships. Only driver to have one under the old points system and then have one under the Chase. He also has a IRL championship, that came after he was named IRL Rookie of the Year. Last year he added to all that with an IROC Championship. This all goes along with numerous Karting championships, and the very first winner of the of the Triple Crown where he won the National Midget, Sprint and Silver Crown Championships. NEVER done before. He is also the ONLY driver to EVER have won championships in NASCAR, IRL, and open wheel Midget, Sprint and Silver Crown cars. He also became the first driver to ever complete both races in what is known as "Double Duty" driving in the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 the same day. He finished 9th and 4th respectivley. If you can come up with another driver who has as diverse and championship winning history as Tony Stewart i will stand corrected. But I doubt you can!

1. Mark Martin.. Why is because he is the Man of Nascar, an Icon, a true sport... It doesn't matter if he wins, looses, or what ever he doesn't complain about it like some other drivers do. Sure Mark hasn't won the Championship yet in his career but that might change this year if he keeps it up. First place in Points for him. Go Martin and show them who is THE MAN!!!!!
2. Rusty Wallace before he retired and even after retirement. Another Icon of racing.

I enjoy watching Kurt Busch run. Yeah, he's done some dumb things, but hasn't everyone. The formerly big-eared, skinny kid from Vegas can really hustle a race car. Team Penske is gaining more strength, so look out for #2. Dale Earnhardt was the man for his time, but his performance pales in comparison to the KING, Richard Petty. Nothing says Mr. Nascar like 7 Daytona 500 wins and 7 Winston Cup Championships.

OK, I'll answer this question but I know for a fact I'll get dumped on.
#24 Jeff Gordon.
JG is a future hall of famer, will surpass DE. Sr. in wins, and maybe win 1 more championship (making it 5).
Only 2 people have won more.
Now, to address all those Jr. fans.
Here's a question for you.
How many championships has he won ?
He is 32 and has 0 championships.
Gordon - 35 and has 4
And to address your comments that will be coming about "he was a spoiled rich kid that was handed his car"
Think about this...who created DEI for his son ?
Talk about someone living off his daddy's name.
Until Junior can win a championship, he'll be nothing more than a second rate driver.
P.S. Richard "the KING" Petty will and always be the best driver in NASCAR history. With 200 wins and 7 titles.

i am perticular to Chevrolet drivers, yet no one can fill the missing spot left by Dale Earnhardt. Yet it would be better to list my top five in most admired; 1. Tony Stewart- a bull dog racer. 2. Dale jr- just for his name sake only. 3. Jeff Burton- Dale Earnhardt tried to get from Rousch Racing for DEI long before RCR. 4. Kevin Harvick- a good racer in a strong race team 5. Jeff Gordon- a stong and fearless racer on the strongest race team in NASCAR history.
Ain't that a bit ironic that I have Dale jr and Jeff Gordon in the same personal top five?
shhh...please don't tell on me.

My guy is Kevin Harvick. I loved Dale Earnhardt and was upset when someone else took over his car in 2001. I then realized that this guy really wanted to honor Dale and knew that he could never replace "The Man." Since then, I couldn't stop cheering for Harvick.
