I hate Pit Bulls there is no point in owning these dogs people only want to breed them to make their little money. Poor puppy

First it's not the dogs fault.

It is the owners.

Either they did not introduce the dogs properly. The older dog was not socialized properly or perhaps the idiots left the dogs alone unsupervised and un crated.

I hate to sound bitter but I am. Too many times these animals are blamed for their aggression and it is NOT THEIR FAULT. Which is why all responsible dog owners need to do something about the irresponsible dog owners they know. Try to teach them or turn them in to the SPCA. I'll be dipped if because of a bunch of idiots I'll have to put my dog down because he resembles a certain breed. It's a crock.
Now to answer your questions:
Euthanasia cost will very. Around here the average cost is based on weight. I am assuming that the dog is less than 100 pounds so it will be cheaper. Usually around $120 with a group burial. If they will want the ashes returned it will be around $50.
As far as the dog turning on him or his children... How old are his children & why is he leaving them alone with the dog? I bet it's safe to assume that if he hasn't bothered to train his dog that he hasn't bothered to teach his children to respect the dog either. He needs to take the dog to a respected proffessional trainer & do exactly what the trainer says if he is considering keeping the dog.
Dogs are not toys. They are a responsibility & a privialge -like children.
My suggestion would be to call the SPCA and ask them for the number of the local pit bull rescue. Give the poor dog a chance.
As far as your "I hate pitbulls there is no point in ownimg these dogs" I want you to know that the majority of dog bites are not mosslar breeds. The small dogs that are considered to be "good family pets' are at the top of the list. The only difference is --- when a child gets bit by a 10 pound dog they usually don't have to go to the ER. Please if you don't beleive me do some research.

I agree with part of a pre-posted answer. If the puppy was introduced to the already settled dog inappropriately--whether it's just a puppy or not doesn't matter--then violence is often expected. In this case, unfortunately, death occured.

This doesn't mean the dog in question is vicious. Dogs are not humans; they see, interpret, and learn things differently. You should first check into multiple trainers locally, and get different observations done. It may not be malevolency from the dog at all but an owner error.

Explore other options before killing the dog, at least this way you may have legitimate reasons for terminating the animal rather than saying, "I hate it! I think it's worthless! Kill it!"

This is a serious thing..... like you already know....

I would recommend not waiting for the answer to this but to get to the vet right now.... I think that the cost of haveing the dog put down is dependant on where you are, Here it is about $100.

If he decides to keep the dog, This is a danger to everyone in the family. Without seeing the dog in action I can't tell you whether it will turn on him or his children, but I can tell you that this is NOT an option without professional help, and I don't mean the local petco trainer. I mean someone that is trained to handle these kind of aggression issues. Most people that I know can't afford the kind of help that this dog will need. We are talking about an aggression specialist that can charge $150 an hour and higher.

I have see pit bulls lay down their lives for there families... but I have also seen them turn just as fast. The only way to tell what is going to happen with ANY dog is to know that breed and the breeder.... A good breeder with have all the health and temperment test done on the parents, and will let you meet them.

These dogs were bred to fight so like my choosen breed the doberman they have to have a strong leader (I did NOT say a mean, or punishing leader). I have to work with my dog every day on things that could make her dangerous to people outside my family.

If you neighbor decides to keep this dog.... stay away from it when it is outside and keep 911 on speed dial for when it gets to much for him to handle and it turns on him too.

It might very well turn on him if it's already showing a killer instinct - rather ask your local vet or SPCA about the cost of euthanasia. If they are really prepared to go the distance, they could take him to a professional trainer for an opinion on if the animal can be rehabilitated, then decide if euthanasia is the only way - most often it's down to training, not just that the dog will kill everything.

This dog is probably a great family dog and was never socialized properly with any other dogs, remember it is a specific trait that these dogs have, is to be dog fighters not human killers. So this is very typical amoungst Pittbulls.
Also I have a pittbull and she is great with children and other dogs and animals including horses, but that doesn't mean that I would leave her alone with them, and this is what your neighbors probably did, they left the pup alone, and could not prevent the attack and kill.
NEVER LEAVE A NEW ANIMAL ALONE WITH A PITBULL OR A CHILD. ALWAYS SUPERVISE!
Yes they should put the dog down and the money should not be an issue, if it's your neighbors dog leave it to them and stay out of their buisness.

The cost of euthanasia varies from place to place. Call your local Animal Control office for information on where to go. Obviously, this dog has a taste for blood now, and should not be trusted not to act on it. Unfortunately, it's NOT the dog's fault, but it's too late to lay blame. Have the dog put down, and try to encourage your neighbor to stick with goldfish.......they obviously know NOTHING about picking and training dogs......poor puppy is right!!!! Too bad we can't have the owner euthanised!

Pit Bulls aren't bad dogs. Every dog is born good, but your neighbor probably did something to harm their pit bull which mad him be aggresive. My friend's pit bull is the nicest pit bull I've ever seen. But, I don't think you should put it down. My dog is very aggresive and can kill a child, but we won't put him down. Maybe have the dog trained or put him up for adoption.

the best bet is to ask the vet how much it is to put the dog down. the dog could turn on people at any time but if the dog thinks the pup was invading his home he could be just protecting it . if however you fill the dog is a big threat the call the dog warden and the dog will be looked into.it may be something that has happened before the owner got the dog to make it turn.no dog is bad but as a dog owner myself i have always said if my dog kills or becomes a hazard in any way he would be put to sleep not just for the safety of my family but for other people to.good luck

Dog to dog aggression is not the same as Dog to Human aggression.
However, if your neighbor's dog is killing other dogs at this point, these people need to put the dog down.
