It depends on their experience with software. Some can have more others not. Also a few very qualified airline pilots may get better paid than everyone else.

Not exactly....It depends on where they are positioned in the hierarchy of software companies....
A new entrant starts off as a s/w engineer or developer. After abt 2 years he will be a senior s/w engineer & then a technical lead.
Now, a technical lead or a system architect in those firms u mention does earn more than an airline pilot.
