That is really rediculous. You need to train your dog to be able to sociallize him. When you take him to a dog park have him lie down on your back or at home with the other dogs too. This is a sign of submission. If your dog is being aggressive hes not being part of the pack and you need to teach him that he isnt alpha- you are.

If you are unable to correct his behavior you need to take him to obedience classes its part of being a responsible parent.

Dont ever give a dog sedatives to greet other dogs your are risking hurting them, and you are going to give them sedatives in the first place you shouldnt be on Yahoo you should be at the vet.

If you dont have time to properly socialize your animal and correct his/her behaviors you shouldnt be a pet owner.

Would you drug a child becuase they didnt want to go to their friends house? or decided they just didnt feel like playing with the other kids at the party???

Training won't sort out if dogs just don't like each other, like humans they don't all just get along.
Giving a dog a human sedative or anything like that will merely act as a muscle relaxant, not sedate it, any vet can tell you that. They have specialised medication for dogs (if you give a cat a human sedative it acts as a apetite stimulant, has different effects on all animals).
Remember if you sedate your dog, he is defenceless against the other alert animals.
I agree with Alex, training is the way to go with this, but not jusdt a training school, a trainer who specialises in behavioural problems with animals.

Just like giving humans a sedative, it is unsafe to give your dog sedatives. It does not help them learn to calm down or get along with other dogs so the dog would have to rely on the sedative, to calm down. This may lead to a shorter life span. Instead I would recommend training classes or training your dog to obey your commands.

No, The only thing they would do is make your dog sleepy or actually go to sleep. Sedatives can also be dangerous. There are risks that it will kill your dog every time they're used.

You can get something called ' Rescue Remedy ' that is natural. It is for pretty much that .. They will give it to dogs who are afraid of storms, allows them to experience a few storms while a little mellow, and realize that the storms aren't scary. It would be a better idea likely than a sedative.
