There's nothing wrong with conformity, unless you conform for the sake of fitting in with everyone else. And nonconformity for the sake of being different is just as wrong. If you believe in yourself enough, you will just do the right thing, conformity/nonconformity is absolutely irrelevant.
"Believe nothing, no matter who said it, no matter if I said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and common sense." Buddha

I don't believe people that say they don't conform to everybody else. I believe everybody conforms to other people in all kinds of ways - and why not? It's only on essentials that being different has any meaning. For me that's vegetarianism. But on other issues, I just follow the flow. It's too much work to be different in everything.

I have no good reason to believe in myself. All the evidence supports the assertions of the Bible, that I am a sinner in need of a Savior.
I thank God I have found a Savior, and I believe enough in Him to bring me into conformity with Himself. He has worked some marvelous changes in me, and I believe Him to perfect the work He has begun.
"Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in (me) will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ." (Philippians 1:6)
