I don't know exactly where in the bible or what exactly is said about tattoos but I remember something about how they are a desecration of your body.
I personally don't think God will send someone to hell for just getting a tattoo, so I find that whole desecration chestnut to be an antiquated notion.

This is what the Bible says about tatoos in Leviticus 19:28
King James Version
You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you,: I am the LORD
I think that's the only reference
I could find no others
Let me say further, that I am the mother of a tatooist, and too, I don't think that a tatoo has any bearing on your salvation
The common practice of getting a tatoo as art is probably not what the writer is speaking of here. In the context, the print would be similar to the cutting- and that doesn't mean ear piercing, or body piercings. They are cultures that cut, pierce, and tatoo the body for magical workings. And that's not the same

The Bible says not to mark yourselves (body). It was and still is a pagen ritual to tatoo (for lack of better term) your body. However I leave that issue to each his own. If God convicts you not to tatoo, then by all means do not.

This is on my list as well. When younger Grandpa use to always preach to me " don't mark nor mar your body ".
Some say don't cause its a violation of the body, your temple. Others say its fine as long as its not an idol, pagan symbol, or any "religious" symbol for HE said to worship no such thing.
I myself have wanted a full ankle and foot tattoo. A ankle band of leather with Native Indian drawings, beads and decoration and then 3 full size feathers draping onto and wrapping the foot. It would be in honor of those that have came before me in my Native line.
But before I do it, I need to know for sure, to see the passages myself and to use Greek and Strong's to ensure they say what they say. Let me know if you get any good answers.

The Bible says that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and it should not be defiled.
Also, in Leviticus 19:28 it says, "Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD"
Hope this helps! n_n

Our body is a temple. We need to treat it as such, not marking it up. I unfortunatly got a tattoo when I was 14 with my parents permission. I wish they would have said no way ! I was saved at 21, so I am now stuck with my sinful marks :(

Your body is a temple (bible believer or not), do you want to tag it or hang some art on the walls?

It is very clear what God meant in the scripture referring to this. You can rationalize and justify it any way you want, but that won't change the Truth.
