Let the bird go...it will be better off fending for itself outdoors. It may die of malnutrition in your garage, and it is illegal to keep such a bird in your possession due to the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. In the mean time offer it orange slices, grape jelly or make it some "nectar" (4 parts sugar,1 part water), until you can get it to leave your garage.

Much like hummingbirds, orioles are very fond of nectar. Here's a recipe for some simple oriole nectar.

Mix 1 cup of sugar into 6 cups of water. Bring to a boil for 10 minutes, and then allow to fully cool. Pour mixture into an oriole feeder, and store any unused portion in the fridge until used. Be sure to change the feeder frequently, as old nectar can be harmful to the birds.

Orioles also LOVE fresh fruit. Oranges seem to be their favorites. Nail a nail into a tree. Slice an orange in half. Jam the peel-part of the orange up against the nail so the soft inside is facing out, and easy for the oriole to eat.

I hoped that helped, don't forget to give it some water too. You seem like a very nice and caring person so i'm sure it won't be a problem to take some time and make the recipe. Good luck.

Open the door and let it out. It is illegal to keep a wild bird. By keeping it in your garage and feeding it, even if it is not caged you can be charged.

It will be happier outside.

Is the pull on your garage door opener, red by any chance? If so, paint it another color. Hummingbirds will see those and get trapped in your garage also.
