No I would believe they are real. That is because the Book of Revelations is not to taken literally. All the Books in the New Testament are actually letters written by an author to a certain group of people. Most scholars have a general idea on the authors and the people they are writing to.
There are problems with reading this Book:
1. We don't know who actually wrote it. The author claims to be John the Apostle but the Book only existed hundred of years after he died.
2. We have no real clue what the author is talking about. It has to symbols in it to understand. It is what it claims to be or it could be just a newsletter telling the people who is receiving it what is happening in his area. Since it used symbols or codes, it is hard to understand since there is no codebook to decipher it.
3. Some points contradict themselves. The term "666" in reference to the beast or anti-christ is a power to the good. So why is it assigned to a evil creature? People have to read up on ancient Israel to understand their traditions at the time so they can get a better glimpse of what they are reading.
Don't get me wrong. I am a Catholic and believer in God. But I know that some Books in the Bible are not to be taken literally.

The difficulty with this question is the definition of the phrase, "believe they were real". I have no doubt that prophets still exist, but their voices are heard by very few. I also understand that prophets who came and announced that they were biblical prophets might by that very act be showing themselves to be false prophets. Remember, the AntiChrist will convince many (most?) to follow his teachings, then the true returning Christ will come to claim the few, according to the Revelation of John.

They already came see the first prophet in the 1st testament and the 2nd prophet in the 2nd testament.
ZECH 4v
12And I answered again, and said unto him, What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves?
God's word is considered a lamp unto our feet and light unto our path. The word represents oil that gives the light. Oil also represents the Holy Spirit.
What is due to come upon the eath is that the foolish virgin will not know enough about the bible and be lead astray, but the wise virgins retained the word in their hearts and minds and were not leads astray.
1st and 2nd Testaments are God's word alive in the spirit.

The two you are speaking of are the witnesses, and they have been here since Jesus ascended and sent the Holy Spirit to us. They are the spirit and the word and the world sees them as dead in these the last days but soon they will rise to their feet and a shout from heaven will announce the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ in glory and power. At that time there will be no more space for repentance. As it says in Revelation 22:11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.

No, because the prophets will come AFTER the rapture, and I'm a Christian, so if the rapture had taken place, I wouldn't be here anyway.

Not unless they were somehow able to demonstrate their reality -- which impresses me as unlikely in the extreme.
