I got a tattoo a few months ago and the black outline sometimes looks like a dark purple/gray in certain lights.

Is this normal?

I do have pale skin, I guess that's it.

Thanks everyone!

Thanks. Would it be possible to "go over" the outline again, if needed?

Yes, you can go over a tattoo and sometimes you can even get a better artist who can touch it up so well it will look better than it ever did, yes it is normal for many people to have their tattoos touched up. I have two and one of them needs a touch up and maybe something added to it to update it a little bit.

Black tends to show up as blue, purple, and on occasion an ashy grey, once the piece is healed.

i have black tattoos and occassionally they look purple too.or even blue.i suppose its just the way the light hits the or the type of light youre in.maybe call your artist to see what they think!!

probably has something to do with your skin tone...I am pretty fair and my black and grey work looks black and grey...I am not an expert...perhaps a tattoo artist will comment for you.

not really. it either means your ink didnt stay set in and you need to get it touched up or that the ink they used was acually purple?
