A small dog like a pug might only have between 1 and 4 puppies, and if it is the first pregnancy, it could be towards the lower numbers. I have had Maltese whelp 3 and 4 puppies, and my Maltese were around 5 & 7 pounds. Just make sure you keep the babies warm, and if you have to, put a small lamp in the whelping box for heat. Feed the Mom extra calories to compensate for her pregnancy, and I wish you well. It will be the most awesome experience of your life!

Take a trip to the vet, (the first of many) with the body type pugs have, she may need a c-section when she's ready to have the puppies. I hope you have a few thousand dollars to cover possible complications of not neutering your beloved pets.
