As a short term solution get a "bobble hat"

Seriously, call the helpline number on the box of dye you used, they really are good advisors. Or get a hairdresser to take pity on you, they often will give advice for nothing in the hope you will remember them and come back, or be sly and make as if you are thinking of getting it done their, ask their advice and ask them to explain exactly why they would do what they are suggesting, you should pick up enough to do it yourself at home.

Or you could let them do it.

Having been there and done that too many times, I would probably go for the blonde colour and see what happens, you can always strip out the blonde colour afterwards, but obviously not the bleach.

Bleach works by lifting dark brown hair through several stages, brown, red, ginger, orange, yellow then blonde and finally white. The gingery bits are where the dye needed to stay on longer, with home kits this is difficult as you can fry your hair if you leave it on too long. Using a blonde colour on top of this (a permanent one) will lighten these gingery bits still more, but only by a shade or two, which may not be enough, it will work exactly right on the white bits and may be a little different on the yellow bits. The outcome may look perfect, or it could end up patchy, which is why I would call the helpline, every time they have given me advice, it has worked, they will tell you what blonde shade to use to get the desired result. If they are closed, you will have to wait until monday, in which case sitting around tomorrow with either olive oil all over your hair or a decent hair masque or treatment bought at the chemist would be an extremely good idea. A lot of the blonde hair masque ones are really good at remoisturising hair that has been bleach damaged, but once it is fried, you either have to live with it or cut those bits off.

Once you have reached your required colour, make sure you use a shampoo and conditioner specifically for blondes every time you wash your hair, and a good hair masque once a week.

I can't emphasise enough though about calling the helpline number for the right advice, trust me, they have heard it all and know what products will work best. If it is not blonde enough for you after this, you can always add face-framing highlights, then leave it until your roots need doing, with plenty of hair treatments in between. Best of luck.

what would I do in your situation?
And I have been in it.
My natural colour is mousey brown and I always wanted platinum, through bitter and expensive experience I finally learned. When the bleach stayed on longer than it should have and my hair fell out in clumps as a result I eventually went to a salon and had the bleach removed so my hair was now bleach free, not platinum and a former shadow of itself but back to mousey.
DO NOT let it get that far.
Get it professionally removed, (the dye) and get back to your normal colour.
If it's not in bad condition then give it a week of intensive conditioning and hair masques to optimise it and get it ready for its next colouring.
Seriously, THIS works.
First if you want to colour it at home 'cos it's cheaper then go for 2 shades lighter first. eg from very dark brown to meduim/golden brown.
Leave it for four weeks then retouch the roots so's it stays natural looking.
THEN you can apply an even lighter shade, say medium golden blonde. Keep doing those retouches then go onto Honey blonde to baby blonde.
You work your way up making sure that when not colouring or retouching that you are DEFINITELY intensely conditioning your locks so that they're prepared for the next session.
It takes time but it worked for me.
If you have red in your hair then NEVER go for ashy blondes as your hair can go green and in my case years ago, lilac!
First though, before you embark on your crowning glory adventure, STRIP that old colour NOW by a professional!

This has just happened to me too!
Although I had it done in a salon so i went back to get them to fix it, but what they did was to bleach it a bit more to lighten it up more, and then put a silver blonde toner on it to neutralise the yellow/ginger colouring.

Ive also just bought VO5 colour mousse in "silver blonde" which has silvery/blue tones in so neutralises the yellow bits out, making it more of a white blonde. It is non-permanent, use evry 5 washes, so you could try that first.

I wouldnt try to bleach it again unless you go to a professional hairdresser to do it, as its probably already v.damaged and bleaching it yourself again could cause the hair to turn very weak and britlle, and can even fall out.

You Should Go To Professional, it Sounds Like You Have Too Many Problems To Tackle Yourself.

i did this. to alter the ginger i used a toner as recommended by a hairdresser. it still didnt look how i wanted it to so i dyed it back to brown with SEMI permament dye so as not to risk further damage. if you want blonde hair that bad then go to a hairdresser for help. if it's really ginger and damaged then you might have to get it cut and dyed darker.. then youll have to wait im afraid :(

I would'nt re bleach it as your hair will break off,i would go to the hairdressers and see what they can do for you,it would really damage your hair putting more bleach on it as you already have dye on your hair.I have had bleach on my hair before it made it really dry and bits broke off.

With all those tones going on, you better get yourself to a salon. If its got white tones, its overprocessed and it could break. It will be very hard to correct it, and pricey, but if you do it yourself, you could be extremely sorry. I could tell you that it will grab the base of the color you put on it, but thats just the half of it. Please go to a colorist ! Don't get bummed about it, just chalk it up to experience and never do it again. Good luck. Lemme know what happens via email. HUGS !!!
