When ever I talk on the phone I can never think of anything to say, there's usually a lot of silence. What are some good conversation starters???

The Basics really, How are you, what are you doing, how was work/school, any plans for the week/weekend, seena certain movie, heard a good band, all that kinda stuff.

If you just want to be on the phone with this person and don't have much to say just say "hey put on channel____. Then you can talk about everything you see right down to the commercials. When my husband and I were dating he never had anything to say on the phone, and not because he didn't like me or we had nothing in common. Sometimes the phone is just an awkward thing. Just try watching TV together on the phone and then the pauses will be less weird. You can say "oh my god, did hear what he just said to her"?!

Hmm, if you are stuck on what to talk about, then always ask them how's their day going and what they did. It should sometimes lead on to some other topic once you guys talk about your day. Always bring up something funny even if its random, it will make you guys laugh and it should keep the silence away. And if you are talking abut your bf, phone sex would bring death to the awkward silence, it can last for hours.

Knowing the reason you are on the phone is a good starter. I myself use the the phone to make contact to a person for spicific reasons, thus eliminating the empty space, the last I knew phones are to inform someone of something you want or need to pass on, other than that, I prefer to make person to person contact! I don't enjoy empty space on a phone as it waste my minutes and yours!

You can for example ask "So what've u been up to today?" "Any plans for the weekend / How was your weekend?"
Or then if u already know the answeres to that u can just say like "I wud luv to stay and talk with u, but my battery is low / I really gotta get going now"... something like that :)

if i was talking on the phone and then there was dead silence then i would start to ask whats ur fav tv show or whats ur fav color
