to my dad about getting a dog, and he said he was impressed by the letter and that he will think about it. he also said he's thinking of asking my teacher about getting a dog since she doesn't have a kid, but a lot of dog experience. how do I bring the subject up again about dogs to my dad without sounding too anxious or annoying?

ask your dad what kind of dog that would be a good pet. involve your dad in getting the dog.

Start the topic like this "So, have you thought more about me getting a dog?" It's your dad.. the man who helped bring you into this world.. why the formality of the letter and the insecurity about talking to him? You're not asking the President for a dog.

I don't know would your dad get real angry if you ask again? Maybe wait for a week or two and in the meantime do some research into what dog you'd really like to have then just say pretty please dad can i get a puppy, I don't know why he wouldn't want to get you one if it's going to make you happy
Good luck. I hope you get a new puppy dog soon

I dont understand the situation, why write a "letter" to ur dad about getting a dog? and is ur dad telling ur teacher to get a dog, or seeking advice about gettin a dog? Wats wrong in sounding too anxious, write another letter to him if u want. (which i still dont get by the way)

Just let him now how important it is to you and that you will be responsible for the dog. Also let him know what type of dog that you would like. Be polite.. Make sure that your not asking him everyday.

omgsh i am wrote a letter to my parents about rabbits but i haven't found the perfect time to give it to them lol...
anyhow, i would just casually say "have you thought anymore about a dog?" or "you know, I thinking of adoption..." or something like that.
however you could just wait i am sure it hasn't just slipped his mind, most kids don't write their parents letters and i am sure he would remember that
well best of luck! i hope it works out for you (and me lol)
P.S. does your dad get on-line because you could "accidentally" leave a picture or site about dogs up on the screen for him to find, maybe that would get him looking on that site or into your new dog more.

Ask your dad about the subject during dinner or when he's in a good mood. Act normal and keep your voice steady.
GOOD LUCK!!

Do research about a paticular breed that will fit you and your families lifestyle--then present the research on a powerpoint presentation to your dad so he will once again be impressed.
