elizabethan collar does not attach to his regular collar. just goes around his neck and closes with velcrow. vet issued this to me today.

The e-collars with velcro don't work, they can always get out of those. I find the best success with the the e-collars that have loops around the neck and instead of feeding the regular collar through the loops try using a long piece of gauze and make sure it is snug enough ( only space two fingers under collar). Your local pet store should have these.

Make sure that it is sized properly, and use his collar (or any nylon collar that will fit him) to keep it on the dog's neck. You also need to make sure that the collar is not too loose, if you can pull if over the head without unsnapping it, the collar is too loose.

Tighten it a bit or hook it to a harness rather than just a collar

MAYBE HE DOESNT LIKE IT, BUT YOU HAVE TO PUT ON TO HIM AND HE WILL GET USE TO IT.
