FIP is caused by a mutated corona virus. Many cats have the corona virus in their systems and do not have FIP. Therefore, the "test' is really not a valid one. FIP comes in two forms, the wet and the dry. Both are always fatal.

FIV is the feline form of the virus that causes human aids and that is the one that affects the immune system. Many cats can have symptom-free lives for quite a while with that. So, like with humans who are affected it is important to have the best possible diet and protection from acquiring any infections (such as bites).

So I think there is hope in that the mouth infection can be treated and your kitty won't have any further problems.

LPGS is an infection of the mouth, not a symptom. But being FIP positive makes her immunosuppressed (like and AIDs patient) and therefore will more easily contract illnesses like LPGS.
