i think the fastest 42 cars should make the field with only 1 provisional spot for the most current past champion and thats it make them try to qualify better then make adjustments during the race so that the best TEAM who can make the correct changes putting a little more on driving skills and the right decisions during the race so that the best car, driver, and team will win also put a road course in the final 10 races so that we get a champion that can drive and be consistent at every type of track nascar races at....and thats the way i would like to see it...just my opinion..because u can look at qualifing speeds every week and there are several cars that are 2-3 miles an hour faster but there not in the top 35 so they go home with some of the faster cars that should be racing........

There should be no top-35, but instead top-20 or even top-15 should be locked in. Think of Johnson last June in Dover. He spun out during qualifying (and made an awesome move to keep it off the wall). He was running for a Championship and was the current points leader. I would hate to see someone not race due to an error like that. However, only about the top-20 cars a re super competitive, so that is all that should be guarenteed. I also think that there should be no past champion's provisional. But, if there were not SOME guarenteed spots, could you image a Chaser missing the race during the race? There needs to be some kind of rule, but top-35 is too much. Top-20 would be slightly less than half the field, and is a good number.

I agree some changes need to be made. I think I'd lock in maybe the top 20 and have maybe 2 provisional spots. It's a tough call with so many full time teams trying to run. Some drivers don't qualify well, but are great in the race, while others qualify great, but can't race worth a darn. Personally, I hate single car qualifying. I think it's boring and a waste of time and resources. Maybe qualify the top 20 spots and have 20 lap heat races to finish out the lineup.

I think it is the most ridiculous rule ever thought up. It all came about after Wimmer didn't make a race his rookie season. He whined and cried about it and low and behold they looked at the set up and changed it. I understand provisionals and those should stay, but if you aren't good enough or fast enough you shouldn't be in the race. I think that when the put it in the Busch series was the worst idea known to man. I like the rule that if the car doesn't run a full season than you have to qualify on time, but only then do I like that rule. It needs to go.

in the national series its the suitable 30 rule, yet i might replace it to any driving force who qualifies in the suitable 20 is directly locked into the sphere alongside with the suitable 22 drivers in proprietor factors plus the previous champions provisional if mandatory then circulate back to the provisional device nascar use to have If there are nevertheless spots attainable the automobiles twenty third with the aid of thirtieth in proprietor factors get in the prepare and that they very virtually consistently might because of the fact its no longer too frequently the suitable 20 starters are exterior the suitable 30 in proprietor factors. Then all different last positions if any circulate to the subsequent quickest automobiles in qualifying. go away the present coverage the way it extremely is in the form of a rain out.

Scrap the whole fricken thing, and get rid of using provisionals to, or limit the number of provisionals two two,
because Dale Jarret has started every race this season, and every race he's started this year, he's used a provisional.

YES!!!!YES!!!! YES!!!! Scrap the free rides period. No top 35 and no provisionals. This is the only fair way to do it.Too many drivers know they are going to be in the race so they sandbag and don't worry about quailifing. If they had to quailify to make the field the true fastest 43 would tun.
That's all I have to say about that.

yes, i dont even know why they starting using that rule in the first place. i guess it because of the field filler issue a few years ago. theres cars that are 3 mph off the pace in qualifying and they get in cause of owner points. it should be whoevers fastest gets in, especially with over 50 cars attempting to qualify now.

i dont mind the top 35 i just think it should be the driver not the owner points, look at all the rookies and unproven drivers that are locked in because of how someone else did in thier car last year
