I don't. There is nowhere in the Bible that says that we have to confess to another human including Catholic priests.
When Christ died the Temple curtain in Jerusalem that was keeping people other than the priests out of the presence of God was torn from top to bottom signifying that God was available to everyone to go to without a priest.
I have prayed to God many times in 33 years and have seen Him heal my children in answer to prayer, meet needs that I didn't tell anyone else about and even get a spiritual kick in the pants from God when I prayed He would reveal things in my life that needed repented of.
Talking to God is kind of like talking to an earthly father that really cares about His children. He is always willing to lend an ear and answer your prayer.
The problem some people have with God is that He has a few different answers to prayer. They are Yes, No and Wait!
Everyone loves the first one. Most of us don't want to hear the other two. Funny how we humans forget that He knows what is best for us since He created us.
Prayer is so simple that even a child can do it. It is only difficult to those who try to intellectualize it. God is ready to hear you at any time and no matter whether you are in a church or walking down the street or anywhere else. Don't let the nay sayers stop you from praying - God is much bigger and wiser than any of them.
Hope this helps!

Just be honest with the Priest and tell him that you have never confessed before. The Priest will help you with the rest. If this makes you uncomfortable, there are usually cards in the confessional to help you get started. When you enter the confessional, you will have a choice of face to face or behind a screen. You can start by saying: "Bless me Father, for I have sinned. This is my first Confession. Then tell him what is on your mind. Say you are sorry and let the Priest guide you from there.
Or you can call the Priest for a private confession in the rectory. Either way, God's peace to you.

If you have never done it before you need to know that you can do it outside the box too. While it is good, and scriptural, to confess our sins to one another, it is also scriptural to confess your sins directly to God through Jesus Christ. Simply voice your confession to Him and "If [you] confess your sins, he who is faithful and just will forgive [you your] sins and cleanse [you] from all unrighteousness" (1st John 1:9).

You have to be a baptized Catholic to receive confession. Confession varies from place to place, but it begins with the priest doing the Sign of the Cross. Then you say "Bless me, father, for I have sinned, this is my first confession." then you confess your sins and the priest absolves you and gives you a penance. Sometimes they make you do an Act of Contrition, but like I said, it varies from place to place. Also, most confessionals have a little card in them telling how the whole procedure goes.

For my first confession, I met face to face with the priest. He helped me through it. If you know your priest and would prefer anonymity, just go to another church and meet with a priest you do not know. I did that once, as well. You can also just enter the confessional and tell the priest (through the screen) that you need assistance--this is your first confession. The most important part is not whether you follow every single little step perfectly, but whether or not you are truly sorry for having offended God and truly intend not to commit that sin again.

No one on this earth has the ability to wipe away sin, the only one to confess to it the Almighty God, and ask Him through His son Jesus to forgive your sin, then behave in accord with your actions, for getting His forgiveness, does not mean you can now flagrantly sin.

It is very important to prepare yourself by taking a complete and honest inventory of ALL your sins. If you can't remember the exact number of times you did a particular sin, tell your confessor you did it numerous/many times. If you make a confession and knowingly withold a sin, and since God knows all your sins, the process will be moot. The reason one confesses to another human being is to shine the light into the darkness. It is quite easy for us to silently pray for forgiveness, and we should, but it is another matter to tell someone else our most shameful indiscretions. God Bless you as you continue your path in fulfilling His will for you.

There's nothing to worry about. I have to get off this computer and get dressed up to go with my House Mother right away. It's like the Priest is listening to you threw a screen but if you need privacy, like women cry, or men may not Know exactly what to say or not say it is a other little room for privacy. It is really more for women. It may be for laws in this country. You can say excuse me Father, I must pray just to God so don't listen, and you can say Lord forgive me for blasting that something something away but like I've studied law and I recommend never trusting confidentiality but in the Old Countries it's safer.

Bible is clear.......worship Him in private, do His good deeds quietly. One does not need a box nor preacher to confess, one just has to open their heart.
