Doesn't matter if it is your real or step father. You will think they are a pain regardless because you are a child and have to follow their rules. I did not get along with my father either and that is normal. Kids think they know everything and until they realize the stress their parents have, they will not understand. Just be civil and avoid making him angry. I am sure he has good intentions.

i have a step father too
well, i will say stay away when he get you angry. take the pain, i know it sound unfare but yes take the pain and do the best you can to get your life going, school, or work so u can have your own life.

my step dad used to speak to me like crap, he went for me quite a few times and bullied me badly, i waited until i was 20 and i moved house, after i moved out things got a lot better and now we get on well

Try to act maturely & understand that he makes your mum happy and surely he is better for your mum than her being on her own when you move out and start living your own life.

look hes your stepdad if he is a pain its because he loves you but isnt sure how and he thinks that if he is strict on you now youll thank him later, stepdads have hard times raising someone elses kids its more likely that your not the perfect kid either.

you should try to get along with him he probably wants to get to now you and stuff he just doesn;t know how to do it give him a chance he could turn out to be pretty cool!!
