I would just make better choices think about your next meal.
Also ask yourself do I really need to eat "more" of this.
Instead of junk load your house up with "better" things -
up your water, cut out "white bread" like bread, bagels, pasta.
And just walk or exercise a little.

Well the good news is if you eat considerably well, odds are you might even drop a few pounds.
Healthy foods hm.
Cut out sodas...(wasted calories)
Try to avoid hydrogenated foods, and high fructose corn syrup
Eat lots of fruits and veggies
Try and intake a 40-30-30 ratio of carbs-protein-fat
Exercise 2+ times a week.
And yes like you said cutting out junk food will help out tremendously.
Whole Grain foods are a +.
Also foods that have a low Glycemic Index aren't bad either.
Eggs are also a +.
Try sugar free, whole grain bread. that's nice too.
White albacore tuna...great also.
Guacomole hehe...a little on the fatning side, but it's good fat.
Eat 2-3 times an hour.
Oh yeah peanuts are good also!

No one can force you to cut out junk food, lol. That's up to you.
You should visit www.mypyramid.gov and type in your stats (height, weight, amount of physical activity) and it will tell you how many calories you need to *MAINTAIN* your current weight, and how many servings of each food group you need to get in all your essential nutrients. Just cut back the calories by about 2-3 hundred, then exercise for about an hour most days of the week, add a little strength training (this is the only way to boost your metabolism which will help you burn more calories at rest) and you'll be well on your way to losing weight.
Good luck! Feel free to email me if you need any help/answers/encouragement!

If you ever eat junk food at all you will never live without it completely! I say go for the French Paradox diet theory (French women don't get fat), smaller portions and less of the bad stuff (when you want to indulge). If you want a healthy eating plan for life, make it one you can manage. Too many women see food as evil and that's when they get into trouble. 80% healthy and 20% you can indulge (and not feel bad about, just eat it and be done). I know this will not be the answer you are looking for but I reckon it's too hard to cut out all junk for life.

What has worked best for me is a food log. I'm much less likely to eat something, if I know I have to write it down. I may have one cookie...instead of 5. I may skip the late night snack because I don't want to write it down. I also discovered what foods would fill me up on the fewest calories (high fiber), and which foods I should save for weekends and special occassions (soda & other treats). I also saw that the more I would run and exercise, the quicker I would lose those few unwanted pounds. Check out the site below - it has a common-sense approach to diet & exercise. Best of luck!

If it has a label, it's "processed" and even McD said (when defending themselves in a lawsuit) that any and all processing done to food serves to make it more harmful than the unprocessed ingredients.
Weight gain isn't always a sign that you're just taking in too many calories. It can also be a defense mechanism to damage you're doing to your body. Fat cells around the middle will swell as they try to store and protect you from toxins, including artificial sweeteners.
So eat more foods that don't have labels (AKA, whole foods) and support better health. This can have a dramatic effect on the pot belly. :)

Make sure you are eating at least half a kilo of fruit and veg a day and drinking at least 1.5 litres of water. As far as cutting out the junk food is concerned you just stop eating it, it's fairly simple. Eat something else.
