wow...with so many people who have insomnia, your problem sounds out of line a bit...
Are you sleeping like all day or around 10 hours? The range for sleep is different for people. Some need as little as 3-5 hours, some need the recommended 8, some need 10 and kids need around 12...some of us grown ups don't outgrow the 12...
If you're sleeping all day, I say a doctor's visit is in order. You may be depressed or have other issues. You may want to ask him/her next time you go anyway, but if it's around 10 hours I wouldn't worry about it. :)

You never said how much your sleeping but if it's that bad then may be you should talk to a doctor about it. Do feel lethargic, always tired never any energy, you could have improper serotonin levels and if you do then all the suggestions here are use less because there is nothing you can do to sleep less, unless you go and talk to a doctor. It sounds like you should see a doctor. I went through that so may be you have chronic fatigue syndrome

Each perosn is different and has different sleep needs. you can't fight the way your body is. perhaps if you reduce the stress in your life, you might need less sleep. Perhaps if you have a good solid relationship, you will sleep less. if you are on some type of medication, this might also produce longer sleep. or is you are experiencing depression, this will could also lead to longer sleep need. perhaps do more exercise.
i don;t think food change would have any effect.
try to keep to a steady sleep schedule of when you go to bed and when you wake up.

might have to change the bed!
we got a new bed - and were more relaxed at night - cut down on the sleep needed
also - do you dream? that is an indication of stage 4 or REM sleep (rapid eye movement) - if you rarely dream - you may not be getting deep enough sleep -
and - do you snore? (I could peel paint off the wall)
may need to have a sleep study to see if you have sleep apnea - where you quit breathing
best of luck

u need 6 to 7 hrs. depending on ur age anyway, so ur brain and body can rejuvenate. There are many chemical subtances that can keep up u up all night or many nights in a row --but are more than likely illegal and harmful to ur system. Sleeping less than ur body needs will age you , and make you into a complete non-functional human being..
