Hi! I suffer form cronic pain and my doctor has put me on two types of medication. I take 2- 50mg tramadol 4 times daily. Then in the night I take 60mg oxycodone that last 12 hours. The question I have is why I am feeling crummy during the day. During the day at work I am tired and feel like i have flu like symptoms. I am hot/cold and have not energy. It feels like I am running a fever. I am not sure but I feel maybe if i reduce the oxycodone I might feel better. But then I also think it might be the tramadol. I have taken tramadol before and it never made me feel like this. I have also taken oxycodone in the nights and the next day i never felt these symptoms. Does anyone know if it is due to the high dose of oxycodone? Anyanswers would be great.

The flu-like symptoms sound like withdrawls but since you're taking opiates during the day and evening that wouldn't be the case.
How long have you been on this medication? It could be that you've built up such a tolerence that mild withdrawls are setting in, even as you continue to take the same amount you had been taking.
Again, not likely though. The best thing to do is to bring this up to your doctor and he'll know if you should increase/decease the dose or try something else.

Tramadol is approx 1/15-1/20 the potency of oxycodone. As for hydrocodone vs oxycodone.... hydrocodone is about a 1/3 as potent as oxycodone. You would have to take a massive amount of tramadol to have the same result as 60mg of oxycodone. Tramadol can be dangerous at high doses, you are especially at risk for seizures if you are already on SSRI's for depression/mood disorders/etc.

60mg of oxcodone is a lot and probably enough to get you addicted in about three to five days. However, unltram/tramadol is very addictive and will give you the exact same symptoms. I would start backing off on the oxycodone first. Take lots of vitamin C and eat some chocolate it will help slightly. Back off the ultram/tramadol next but be prepared for three week of feeling crummy. Hot & cold sweats, headache, ashtma lung issues, dry heaves, mental foggyness ..etc

I have RSD and one of my medications is Tramadol. It can cause side effects depending on doseage and your ability to handle the drug.
I have taken oxycodone and again, depending on doseage you could feel a bit under the weather.
They are both pretty powerful medications and I believe both are considered narcotics!
I'm told the Tramadol is not supposed to be addicting but it does have some pretty substantial side effects.
Another drug is Lyrica to which I took but built an immunity too and am presently waiting on a medical decision from my doctor after my next nerve block!
Just speak with your doctor and he can probably adjust or change the medication for you!

Would you be able to cut out the night med and just take Tramodol over the day? I find it really helps me alot and I live with chronic pain also. The only problem with tramadol is getting the right dosage becuase after awhile I feel I need to increase it. When I cut out pain pils as I have often tried I feel so terrible I cannot begin to describe. Good luck.

My mom suffers from chronic pain and has taken tramadol and lyrica and had the same symtoms. The pharmacist told me the two drugs should not be combined. I would call a pharmacist and ask if the two you are taking should be combined.
