At school we talked to a gym teacher at open house and he said that 11 is too young to start. He has a gym class that taught them weight lifting, including free weights. I took him to the YMCA and they show him how to use a few of the Nautilus machines, ones that he was tall enough to use, and he also learned the cardio equipment. Is he too young to lift? Are sets of 12 at a very low weight ok for him to start doing at this age?

11 is a little young to be serious about weight training but if he does it on occasion there will be no problems as long as his form is correct. the only bad exercise is the one that is performed incorrectly. that being the case a child that is athletic and highly coordinated shouldn't have any problems with some Nautilus training. at 11 his body isn't producing much test so training heavy for the young is physiologically impossible for most

I joined my first gym at 13 and so did most of my buddies
