A skin tag is a common, benign condition which consists of a bit of skin that projects from the surrounding skin and may appear attached to the skin. Skin tags can vary quite a bit in appearance. They may be smooth or irregular, flesh colored or more deeply pigmented, and either simply be raised above the surrounding skin or have a stalk (a peduncle) so that the skin tag hangs from the skin.
Where do skin tags occur?
Skin tags can occur almost anywhere there is skin. However, favorite areas for tags are the eyelids, neck, armpits (axillae), upper chest, and groin.
Who tends to get skin tags?
They are much more common with age beginning in middle age and they tend to be somewhat more prevalent in women than men.
Is a skin tag a tumor?
Yes, it is in the sense that it is a growth. However, it is a benign (harmless and not a malignant) condition.

A 'vertical mole' - a little tag of skin that grows up from the surface. Not necessarily harmful, not necessarily indicative of something else going on. Still a good idea to have a medical professional look at them especially if they are recurrent, clustered, or oddly shaped or colored.

Little pieces of skin that are attatched to your body. They are usually harmless and sometimes they even just go away on their own. They can be located anywhere on the body. If they are giving you problems like ripping when you change your clothes or if they just get irritated by your clothes rubbing up against them, then it is probably best to see a dermatologist. Whatever you do, don't try to take it off yourself. I know my husband and I were meant for each other when I found out that he cut his off with scissors (I had done the same thing). With both of us it hurt like crazy and it wouldn't stop bleeding. I do not reccomend doing that. Good Luck!

It's a little piece of skin that hangs off the rest of your skin. Sometimes it can look a bit like a mole, other times it's colorless. I'm not sure what causes them but usually they're harmless, but I wouldn't suggest ripping one off. I think a dermatologist can remove them.

It's a tiny lesion on your skin usually more than one in one area, like a mole but the same color as you skin. They can easily be removed.

Little pieces of skin that hang off the neck-my grandma had them and so do I. You can have them burned off but I hear they really stink.
