I think that the color purple is more accepting on girls. I can't necessarily picture purple on a little boy or inside a boy's room.

Purple can be a boy or girl color depending on how you use it.

Colors don't belong to either gender. Only society says that this color belongs to boys or this color belongs to girls... and I think that society is stupid and narrow-minded for doing that. Even at universities, most women's restrooms are pink because "women are supposed to like pink."
Don't worry about what society says purple is! Whether you're a boy or a girl, you're allowed to like any color you want to!

Purple is androgynous... it is believed by Nordic sailors to be the colour of twilight... and close to the eigth (yes eighth) colour octorine which is the colour of magic in Terry Pratchett's Discworld series.
It is what you want it to be... but to some it symbolises hope... the end of the day can either be a relief or a strange foreboding and fear of the next day to come.

Either. Purple can be warm or cold. Consider this when you paint something purple.

Neither.
Purple is more of a color of royalty than any one specific sex.

For me, neither; it belongs on lilacs, not in your house or on your clothing.
