That's a hardcore stereotype, and like all stereotypes it is blaringly wrong as a whole and almost certainly contains some small element of truth.

obvioulsy the infantry isn't going to have america top minds, but that doesn't mean for a second that people are stupid just because they aren't The top minds.

Americans aren't all doctors and lawyers, but that doesn't mean the guy serving tables at denny's or framing the new house going up down the street are idiots.

Some of the most brilliant people I have met in the Army held Infantry MOSs. My best friend from active duty, for example, was infantry, and now works for the state department in a very high level capacity doing political analysis for Latin American countries.

Anyway, the infantry is a different kind of animal. it's one of the places where folks with low ASVAB scores get dumped, but at the same time, some of the brightest guys in the Army go infantry because it helps them fulfill their goal of wanting to really fight for our freedom. So, you'll find some folks that are pretty smart and some that are not as.

On the officer side, if you want to make 4-stars, your best bet is to go combat arms (Infantry/Armor/Artillery) thus you'll find some of the smartest officers in Infantry, as they have already set career goals for themselves to be generals.

It is a mixture...I think during peace time the higher IQ types get the more technical MOS's, but during war I'm sure they are pumping any and all into infantary. I served in the Marines many years ago, both infantry and none, I ran into some guys that weren't real einsteins in the infantry but also met several of the smartest guys I ever knew in the infantry.

What is stupid about them?? They are defending our country and i don't call that stupid. And by the way if you want to join up and work with so called idiots, then go join. Just don't expect anyone congratulating you on how you think of the infantry.

First you start with a comparative question and then don't ask one. How stupid it that. But no....of the 100s of men in the infantry I have met...none were stupid.

I know a lot of Infantry guys who I am currently serving in the Army with, and whom are my friends. Most of them are smart. In fact at least five of them have degrees. They signed up to serve thier country. They chose to go infantry because they wanted to. That's how they wanted to help thier country. Someone has to do. And I have full faith in all of the Army's MOS's.

and how stupid are they anyway, those of us that have served usually poke fun at other branches, i have seen idiots in every field, but for the most part, your average infantryman is by no means stupid, most have some college and or degrees, they are the highest trained and most disciplined fighting unit on the planet. unless you are referring to a particular unit or action where stupidity was the major factor

You don't want to work with them??? Are you planning on enlisting??? If you feel they are stupid, do us all a favor and don't..Stay home and be brilliant.
If you mean in the private sector, Watch out, they are lots smarter And more experienced than you, may be...They will take your job.....then you wont have to work with them.
