That's all I'd like to know: What is intractable vomiting? I was in the hospital for vomiting and severe stomach pain (which they diagnosed me with food poisoning), and it said that my stated complaint was intractable vomiting. Does that mean uncontrollable? Does it mean that I vomited while I was sleeping? Does it mean I was vomiting bile? (Because all those were things that I told the triage nurse were happening, and I'm trying to figure out which one of those is what intractable means). Thank you very much!

All I can find so far is that another term for intractable vomiting is Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG), which is a rare disorder characterized by severe and persistent nausea and vomiting during pregnancy that may necessitate hospitalization. As a result of frequent nausea and vomiting, affected women experience dehydration, vitamin and mineral deficit, and the loss of greater than five percent of their original body weight.

Also, chronic intractable nausea can be the primary symptom of gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Honestly I think it still draws more attention to the question. Many people on here don't understand how the points really work. One possible theory supporting the people who say "Ten POINTS for best-answer," is when a question is left to voting, it rarely is given a fair shot at people selecting a information based best answer. Truth be told, the first person to answer the question will often win based on voters selecting it quickly to earn a point and move onto the next question. Stupid, but the voting numbers show it's true.
