keep them all together? i feel extremely sad to see puppies get separated and given away to other owners...why not keep them with the mom/dad? if cost and space was not a problem.

or is it dangerous because the mother/father will attack the babies soon thereafter a few weeks for space?

or other reasons?

thank you for your response!

Well as they mature most littermates will fight with each other and with their parents.
As humans we understand about siblings and the family tree. Dogs how ever do not think like that. They see the others as competition for food and breeding rights and intruders on their personal space. So most times a litter all kept in the same home will have fighting problems later asthey get older.

It is possible, if you are a highly skilled dog owner with a lot of knowledge in both training, leadership AND reading dog behavior/body language. These are 3 very strong, very willful breeds who need a very strong, competent leader. Male Dobermans and Rottweilers are quite likely to fight with other male dogs, and Pit Bulls *can* have a tendency toward dog aggression. Not all of them will fight, but few will back down from one if another dog starts it. Getting "all puppies" will NOT guarantee they will all get along when they become adults. Pack order is not established until dogs mature, and if there is a dominance dispute between 2 dogs when they become adults, you COULD end up with fighting dogs. All 3 of the breeds you mention are generally very assertive, dominant dogs and you could easily end up with a personality conflict when the dogs mature. Just do a search on here for the NUMEROUS questions that go "My dogs were raised together as pups, have been friends their whole life- now they're fighthing all the time, help!" It's such a common problem it's not even funny. If you are a very strong leader among your dogs, you reduce the chance of fighting...as they will view you as Alpha and feel less inclined to sort out leadership roles among themselves. Even so, some dogs will fight with other dogs and there's NOTHING you can do to stop it. So if you wish to own all 3 of these breeds, you must prepare yourself for the POSSIBILITY that one day, 2 of them might not get along, and have a plan in place. I know people who own multiple Pit Bulls whose dogs will fight each other, and they maintain harmony by putting the dogs on a rotating schedule. One dog in the house, one dog outside, one dog in a rear bedroom with a chewie toy...and every few hours, they rotate. And the dogs are always crated in seperate rooms when no one's home. Other people can't or don't want to maintain this sort of thing, so they choose to re-home one of the dogs to avoid anyone getting injured. Just understand it's a possibility and plan what you'll do if it happens. Good luck.

So long as the dogs are well-trained and socialized, the parents won't be doing any attacking. There's no reason you can't keep them all if you have the time and space. It would serve you right for producing puppies. Then the homes looking for dogs can actually rescue one rather than buying one.

YES keep them all cause the mother might be going looking for them if you give them away the mother will not attack just make sure there is ALOT of space

You should keep them together. The adult dogs wont attack their pups if they retain the same scent, so dont seperate them at all. Usually if you see "attack"-ing going on, they are just playing. Space shouldnt be a problem if you have a backyard and a guest room.

when i was 5 my dad brought me a dog and she got preg. she had 6 pups a day before i turned 6 we kept them all. they were all i had growing up as i didnt live in town and my sis was 8 yrs older then me they were my playmates they never fought the only thing is dont let them breed each other. sadly they did all die most of old age the first died when i was about 12 and the mom died last she was 15 yrs old.. so yea its possible if you have the time money and room for them dont be unfair to them.

Sure you can. I kept a male and female out of a litter of Doberman Pinschers. Also I had the mother and father and they all got along. Of course there was more to that litter (8) total, but I couldn't keep them all. Wish I could have though. The other litter mates, all but two, went to family and friends so I got to see them and watch them grow.

i dont think dogs attack their youngs like other animals like hamsters. i think most ppl give pups away to others is because that many dogs takes a lot more time, money , energy and effort and also space in house and garden than most ppl can handle. many ppl are happy with only one dog and wont want or be able to deal with more to take care of.

if you can afford to have them all spayed and neutred, and all the food and vet bills. And can you give them all the attention they need. That is what I have to understand that I can not give them all that much attention. And they go to loving homes where someone has time to walk them and play with them. My 4 are enough. So I go to visit my grandbabies and I know they are happy with there new moms an dads.
