You should file all 4 years asap. You will have lost any refund due you if the return is more than three years late. You should expect the refunds to arrive in 8-10 weeks, maybe more for the late filed returns.

You can only go back and file for the past 3 years in order to claim any refunds that you may be due. So-you have until April 17 to file as far back as 2003. You can download the forms off of the IRS.gov website for each year:

You also have to paper file each return---you cannot use efile for a return except for 2006. Since you have to paper file then your refund will take that much longer---probably at least 6 weeks. But, if you elect direct deposit, it may only take 3 weeks. Filing online is so much faster because the info is submitted electronically. When you paper file, the IRS agent has to physically input all the info from your return into their computer and it takes that much longer for them to process each return.

I would go ahead and try to file online for 2006 to see if you qualify for a refund--there is a free efile site on the irs.gov website---and then download the forms for the past 3 years and paper file those as soon as possible. Here's the free efile link:

Hope that helps!

Are you out of your mind?. Even if yu have no income, you are supposed to be filing to be safe. Have you at least gotten an extension for all these yrs. If nothing is done, contact the IRS immediately and find out. The penalties and fine are going to be more if yu wait any longer. Good luck

Don't take anyones word on a question like that.
There is almost always an IRS office within a local phone call away,
They will answer your question and don't worry, they aren't out to get you.
