Although we've known each other for a long time, we've been doing this "friends" thing since the holidays. It began as a hug, then we went out as friends. Then one day, he began to give me a kiss on the cheek when we hugged. I've sat back and let him lead but have responded when he has taken another step so he knows I feel the same way. He came into my office a couple of weeks ago and spent an hour in my office talking - and telling me about his faith. I don't practice the Muslim faith but our belief systems seem to be very similar - I just haven't had the oppotunity to tell him about mine. Surrender, Accountability, Peace are all very important to me. He tells me to call him, but when I do he is busy, will call me - but doesn't. He tells me he wants to find "a good woman" - I think I am a good woman and care for him deeply. I know "dating" is different in the Muslim tradition than what I am used to. How do I show him that I am a good woman without offending him? Help me understand.

I think by your very question you are a good woman. But be careful about assumptions based on religion. I mean, after all, how many unmarried christian virgins do you know? Just because a faith prescribes some sort of behavior does not mean that person actually strictly practices that faith. But if religion is important to you, it is important to find someone who shares your faith. After all, a lifetime can be a lifetime. When your 60, 70, 80 what will be important to you, and you will want someone to share that with.

First find out what the traditional role is of a Muslim woman is and decide if this is the way you want to live. Because if he is a true Muslim man he will expect you to follow tradition.

i once dated a Koren man. i went to his church for quite a while to understand him better. maybe you could do the same. ask him what church he goes to and meet him there. I'm not saying you have to go every week, maybe a couple of times a month. this will show him that you are open minded to new things. this may open the door to other invites, and other learning opportunities. your actions will show him that you are a good woman. in other words, you have to meet him half way.

you have to pray to allah and he'll accept you. the fact that you're contemplating by being with him shows you don't have enough belief in something else that would contradict his lifestyle.
