Well if you go to a great dentist they should look like your real teeth. I have them b/c I was a stupid young kid. Skateboarding I face planted and my 2 front teeth where broken in half. When they glue them on it probably takes about a hour to get the shape and color of them right. It does not hurt much, but you get the taste of what I remember as almost tasting like super clue. Other then that its a simple thing...

I've got a couple, but I don't have the excuse of having no enamel on my teeth!
If you have no enamel on your teeth then you're probably going to run into some major problems with decay, and that's probably why your dentist is suggesting you get them capped now, to prevent painful problems in the future. Personally, I'd go for it, it's not painful or anything like that, nothing compared to having a toothache anyway!

If you have no enamel on your teeth, yes, you should have them capped or veneered. I have about 5 caps. No big deal. However, these things are expensive. But you know, you only get one set of permanent teeth, so you'd better take good care of them. Perhaps you should get a second opinion before deciding. If you save your teeth now, you won't be ordering false teeth in the future, or have bone loss, or gum loss. Godloveya.

You can get a second opinion if you are not comfortable with it, but I think you shud get caps, if you have no enamel or a thinner enamel, that means your teeth are more prone to caries, and you know caries are always a bad thing, better to get caps than a bridge or other such prosthesis.
The bottom line of dentistry is health with esthetics, so just relax, if you are ready to spend money you dont need to worry about them looking fake.
Cheer up!!!!!!

have them thoroghly explain it to you and get a second opinion from at least one other dentist. i have had far too many friends and family members get ripped off by dentists. i had one last year that was going to give me caps so that i wouldn't have to get braces...i have very few crooked teeth. i asked another dentist and he said that was ridulous because it would be worse for my teeth. he's the one i go to now.
