You may have a disorder called TMJ. I have included the web address which explains TMJ and it's symptoms. Also, you may have had some bad dental work done. If you have had a crown, bridge, partial or dentures put in recently, this may be the cause. Or did someone punch you in the face? There are several causes and please make an appointment to see a dentist rather than ask us amateurs. Good luck.

Heat two moist towels in the microwave until hot but not hot enough to burn. Take the moist hot compresses and place them on each jaw. After a few minutes start opening and closing the mouth, stretching a little wider each time. This should take the soreness out and get you to where you can open again. You should also take Advil or Motrin at about 600-800 mg depending on the severity of your condition or how painful it is to you right now. This will work as an anti inflammatory and reduce the swelling and inflammation in the joint area from the TMJ problem your experiencing. If this condition continues you should see your dentist for a further evaluation. This is the technique we always advise our TMJ patients to use when they are locked up and you should get some instant relief from this. Just make sure the towels are damp and good and hot when you apply them as you do the opening and closing. Hope you get to feeling better and enjoy the movie but try not to scream too much or too wide I should say! Good luck!

Additional information: If you grind your teeth at night you need to use a professionally made night guard, ask your dentist about this. This isn't a diet or vitamin problem, the moist heat and exercise is the best treatment for this. Good luck!

It sounds like you maybe grinding your teeth at night. Especially if you are getting headaches regularly. Get into see your doc asap and he can make sure that you didn't really mess anything up. That joint is pretty complex and it can get out of whack fairly easily, but usually it pops back in time. At least mine did! If you are in that much pain, you may want to go to the er but if not, I would suggest some ibuprofen and a warm compress for awhile, that should make it feel a little better. You also can look into getting a mouth guard if it is from grinding your teeth! Good luck!
