If you've never had a curry before you're best off going to an Indian banquet. It costs a little bit more but well worth it. I always take people that are new to Indian cuisine, because they don't know what to expect. I tell them to start with the korma dishes (being the mildest) and then trying something a little hotter. Keep the portions small and only one dish per plate and a fresh plate every time. You see some people piling stuff on their plates from different dishes. Not recommended as you are spoiling the taste of the dishes as they mix.

Did you know that Chicken Tikka wasn't even Indian? When the first Indian restaurant was opened in London business was bad. One diner ordered a meal and it was so dry he asked the waiter for some sauce because the dish was inedible. That night the masala sauce was born.

My favourite dish is prawn dopiaza. It's not hot but very spicy. Dopiaza actually means "extra onions".

I think that my favourite curried or spicy dish is prawn bhuna which is a fairly medium to hot dish, but it depends on hwere you buy it from. The frozen ones tend to be really naff.
