Ok so i really want a dog so badly but my mom won't let me. I've tried everyone's tips but they still don't work. I don't see why we can't have a dog my dad saved up so much money for me to have one so we won't have money problems and he's very experienced with dogs he's had 16 dogs before. I've been caring for this dog when it's owner has to go to a meeting and we live right next to a park!

I'm gonna answer some questions or suggestions people had: Of course i'm saving up money too i'm not just gonna leave it all up to my dad, i'm now where near college so i don't have to worry about that and I love dogs so i will never get sick of them (i lived with 14 cats 2 rabbits and 1 BIG rottweiler for 2 years and i never got sick of the animals!)my school is also right next to my building and i go home for lunch everyday. there's a lot of space for a dog in ou apartment like A LOT

1) How old are you? If you're over 16, I would rethink it. You're not far away from college, and no college I know will accept a dog as a pet. Even if your dad is experienced, I'm sure your mom AND dad aren't wanting to care for a dog that you wanted but can't care for because you're in college.
2) What have you contributed to the dog fund? You said your dad saved up money, but what about you? Have you added to the fund? If the answer is no, then you really haven't done anything but whine to your mom. Work and add money to that fund! Show you're responsible.
3) Whining that you HAVE to convince your mom to let you have a dog is immature and shows that you aren't responsible enough to care for your own dog.
4) Are you in school? How will you care for a dog when you're away at school for 8 hours a day? Don't say that you'll come home at lunch, because that would only last for a few weeks until you get tired of doing that. Will you depend on your parents? Remember this is YOUR dog.

my parents never let me have a dog, but when i moved out i got one. Good things come to those who wait. Maybe your mom doesnt want the house, the yard, the carpeting, and if u have wood floors... wood floors messed up. Dogs can be very messy, even if u take care of them properly, its just like having a kid... they have to be fed if they want attention they let you know. You have to learn that its not just a friend you are its leader or it will become aggressive towards you. Theres alot of factors why she may not want you to have a dog. But remember as soon as your out of the house, and you have enough money to support a dog, than u can get a dog.... GOOD LUCK. I tryed the whole..... everybody else has a dog, i want one, i tryed everything... lol and it didnt work!

Caring for the dog probably isn't the issue. When we had dogs, it was impossible to just get up and take a 3 day trip to the coast or whatever. Had to find a sitter or a border. They are a pain. You will be on your own in the near future, then you can have 100 dogs if you want. Respect your mothers wishes. She doesn't need the hassle.

having a dog is a huge responsiblity.i had 2 dogs b-4 and 1 of them ran away.....
its not as easy as u thinx.
a month or 2,u'll get tired of the dog and will pay no attention to him......
anywayz,ummmm.....
i had the same prob as u,but if i were u,u should take yor mom to the adoption center so she can c all the dogs.u pick the ones u like,and she can say yes or no.
trust me she'll come on a point when she cant stand yor beggin and will get u 1.

you have to go in and say that you need to have some responsibility´s and having a dog is a great learning experience its really hard you have to come home to feed and let hem out so he dos not make a mess in the house so its lots of responsibility and you will save your money to pay for some of the food and so many more bills that bring a dog its not easy

Maybe they think its 2 much responseibilty.Try telling them ull take care of it and feed it and only U do stuff 4 it and they wont get al lthe mess cus when U get it U tak care of it.If u can't handle it then ur not ready 4 a dog.my dad gave my first 1 cys he was biting my toe off,Mom gave second 1 cus i wasn't taking care of it and it mesed up the house,and my dads getting me a chuwawa that im guna take care of :).but my parents r divorst so my mom has a cat and my dad has a cat but i dot want my chuwawa 2 eat dads cat.na hes 2 small.my cat is FAT BIG AND OLD and his hair is all dusty.

tell your mom that you are responsable and try to show her that you can do it but getting a smaller animal and take really good care of it and make her see that you can do it with that and then it might make up for her wanting her to get a dog. tell her tat you need a seeing eye dog to help the blind

Here's how you can win major bargaining points:
Clean the house and keep it up. If my kid did this, it would show me they were willing to do something for me, so then I in turn would do something for them. Do something for your mom that she really really wants you to do, and KEEP doing it without her having to ask for several months, then let her see how nice it is to not have to do the housework, and ask for a dog again. This is the best way to get anything that you want. No one likes doing housework!
