I think it would be fun to watch them film while visiting there. Anyone know if there is a way to find out ahead of time where they will be filming?

They have to schedule street closures with city hall and the police department. So either one of these would be a good source of information.

It is very random. A friend is a writer on the show. If they have to make changes, they reschedule. I see them filming all the time on the steps of the Federal Court House even though when they film they make it look like it is the Criminal Court House which is a few blocks away. I was waiting for a friend at Starbucks on Astor and I saw Chris Noth reading his script in the seat next to me. Didn't bother giving him a second look. This was Monday. They also don't want to be bothered when they are filming. The show does use extras but because they film panning to the area around them, it is annoying to edit people watching them filming, like a group of tourists.
