i don't know if i have split ends...?

my hair is sometimes poofy and i don't know if i have split ends! can some one tell me the signs of split ends?

Take one hair strand . Look at it's end (that's the farthest end from your scalp). Are the ends split? If so, you have split ends. Check several hair strands. No big crime... just get a haircut.

Smooth a chunk of your hair down with 2 fingers, when you come to the ends, look at them, if any one strand looks like a "Y" then you have split ends. The best way to deal with this pesky problem is, get your hair trimed on a regular bases, use shampoo and conditioner with the right moisture base, cut back on heated styling and use a bristle brush once a week to smooth the hair shaft.

If the tips are lighte than all the rest of your hair and little pieces look like they are coming out of the piece of hair then you probably do have split ends.

grab your hair and look at the ends. Split ends look like dots at the end of you hair. or else the hair would be split in two (and possibly more) at the end. got experience with it ><

My mom owns a hair salon and I just graduated cosmetology school. puffy hair can be due to static from the cold weather or dryness in gereneral, it doesnt always mean split ends. if you look closley at the ends of your strands you will be able to actually see splits in them. if you notice that you have alot of slpits then try getting a haircut. otherwise try a deep conditioning treatment that you can either have done at a salon or do yourself at home.

well, you can just look at the tip of you hair and if you see whiteish ends or ends that are split at the tip, you'll know you have split ends
