Try using Windows Media Player. That's the one included and it should automatically open your WMV files.

WMV means Windows Media Video and it is installed by default when media player is installed. Update your media player to the new version, if that doesn't work...or didn't work (since I don't know what "first question's answer" was) then it may be a corrupt of missing dll file. I would need to know your OS to help fix it in this case. If that is the case contact me via PM.

Windows Media Video (WMV) is a generic name for the set of video codec technologies developed by Microsoft. It is part of the Microsoft Windows Media framework.

Right-click the file, click "Open-With", then select the program.

It means Windows Media Video.
You can change your default Player buy going to Setup program access and default, then click custom, then choose my current media player instead of Windows Media Player.

.WMV = Windows Media Video

However, AVI is a much better, for that it supports many more codecs.

Anyway, simply right click anc click Open with... Or, if that's not there, Right Click > Properties

You'll see "Opens with: [ Whatever program here] (Change)"
Click the Change button...

Good luck!
