It seems to me that when someone is lying, they answer the question with a question, example..."where were you last night?" "where was I last night? I was at..." thats always been a dead give away to me.

when someone is lying they are overly defensive they try to pass blame on someone else or come back and attack you for not trusting them basically anything to take the attention off of them. If they look down and to the right they are trying to acess their creative side so that they can come up with a lie and if they look up and to the left they are trying to acess their memory they are trying to acess their memory of the situation or question at hand. there facial expressions are forced its not genuine for example if they attempt to laugh about how proposterous something is it comes off as a very fake laugh and a very fake smile. those are some things I learned in a psychology course..and have observed myself

Usually if they scratch their nose while telling you the fabrication is good indicator. Also, if they look up to the left, that usually means they are recalling history so they shouldn't be lying. If they look up to the right, they are usually stalling for time to put their lie together.
Just some things I learned in sales courses.

Well i have trouble making eye contact anyway, so that confuses people to thinking i'm lying when i'm not.
I found when they start stuttering when you catcch them off guard with a question you think they will lie about because they don't have time to think or it sounds a bit rehearsed!

One tip off is that they look away and rub the corner of their eye. Another is to lift their eyebrows and repeat what they just said.
