Get a download accelerator or download manager I have a download manager the programmes i download now are much faster!!

downloading is a part of the p.c which you cannot regulate speed,because all the local factors make this impossible
most times all of us go online is around 6pm to 10pm every night and this causes a massive strain on servers and the "network"
however there are programs that can split downloads into sections and download each section from a different server thus speeding up the actual download(sometimes by up to 100%)
gigaget download manager (http://www.download.com/Gigaget-Download-Manager/3003-20_4-10503295.html)is such a program and it increases download speeds by around 75% all the time
for example,my normal download speed is around 400kbps,but when i use the gigaget download manager i can get speeds ranging from 550kbps to 800kbps,however i am quite happy with around 600kbps
give this a go ,you will be amazed by how fast it downloads files

I use a program called CableNut Adjuster...
Rather than go into a long detail list of what to do, I'm going to make you do what I had to do...Research and Learn!
Go here...make sure to read VanBuren's CableNut Post.
It's the "Make if Faster" part of the forum. I gained a ton of speed using this program. Some people I setup with this program got improvements from 6MB/s to 10MB/s.

If you are limited to an oldfashioned telephone line, you could try with one of several download accelerators. I am using FlashGet - downloadable from http://www.flashget.com free of charge.
