A lot of times when I pet my papillon she puts her ears back. Does this mean she is scared of me? If so, what can I do to make her more comfortable around me? I spend lots of time loving her, so I don't see why this happens.

it is not that she is afraid of you, it is an act of submission. my pappy is more comfortable if i pet her bringing my hand up from below her face, loves her belly rubbed..they are the sweetest little doggies...

Mine does the same thing. I see it as more of an accommodation thing, where she's getting her ears out of the way of your hand. They really like to be petted and scratched, so I doubt she's afraid of you.

Nope, just being submissive and yearning for your acceptance.

Probably not. What do you think. It can also mean she feels affectionate towards you.

She's not afraid of you, she is submitting to you.
