Pitts has really hit the nail on the head. Pace, like many religious people, is abusing the word "morality" by claiming that it somehow stems from an authority like the bible. Even if homosexuality is a choice (and in most cases I don't think it is) as long as no one is harmed, then it cannot be immoral - by definition.
The military would do better (in the moral sense) to apply the principle of "don't ask - don't tell" to religious beliefs, rather than sexual persuasion.

I appreciated the comment of Steve N. "Gays should follow the same rule as straight when it comes to morality." For professed Christians, how does the Bible define immorality? How does it define fornication?
Every time someone has a comment about gays that goes against popular opinion, that someone is labeled as a bigot . . . as prejudiced . . . as intolerant or as having gay issues. Here is another issue where 21st century professed Christians are deeply divided. Some say homosexuality is perfectly fine while others equate it with immoral behavior. Obviously a standard must be in place to determine whether it is acceptable to God. Since all of these persons profess to be Christians, and since they profess to base their beliefs on the Bible, obviously the standard is set by God and recorded in his word the Bible, yes?
Either this practice is immoral or it is not. Either God condemns it or he does not. Of the two "Christian" camps for and against, one is manifestly wrong for we simply cannot have it both ways. I ask, is adultery wrong according to God? Manifestly, yes. Well, what is the definition of adultery? Does it matter if the two "love each other?"
When all the artful contrivances and quibbling is over, the bald fact remains: for true Christians, fornication is defined in God's word the Bible. Either homosexuality comes under the umbrella term for fornication or it does not.

That general is NOT a Christian. He completely ignores the message of love and acceptance of others that Jesus Christ gave to us. He condemns the valiant soldiers that have died for his benefit simply because of their sexual orientation. "Judge not, lest ye be judged"? Where does that fit in with all of this?
You must take notice that the Old Testament is filled with many useless guidelines, against things like eating pork, trimming your beard, mixing fabrics, etc. Not everything in the Bible, especially the Old Testament, is meant to be taken literally.

Homosexuality is also condemned in the New Testament--see Romans 1.
God condemns it. It's immoral, and it doesn't matter how many people pitch a fit over that.
And I will not apologize for saying homosexuality is immoral, because it's the truth!

Thanks for bringing the article to my attention.
I'm not in favor of General Pace's opinion. It's unfortunate that he's saying gays are immoral. What's even more unfortunate is his position of authority & power.

He's a bigot. What do you expect from a member of Bush's staff. The author says it himself, when it comes to morality, he doesn't know the meaning of the word. He's a typical closed-minded Christian conservative.

What about people who love and want to marry little kids? That's not specifically forbidden in scripture. And what if somebody wants to marry their dog or their toaster? I have searched and searched and have not found any scriptural support for any sexual union other than between one man and one woman. Multiple wives and concubines seem to have been tolerated in the old testament, but even those were heterosexual situations. We all have our cross to bear, and denying one's sexual expression may be difficult, but it's not impossible and will be rewarded in Heaven for the believer. Everyone keeps talking about "love," but this love is eros, not agape. Agape love would not risk involving another in a realtionship that could disrupt their relationship with God.

God loves Gays too. But gays should follow the same rules that apply to straights regarding morality.

Have you ever looked at the male and female bodies naked? Take a good look at them. Do you see how well they fit together? When those two parts come together, what happens? A child is produced. Why does that happen? Because nature condones the practice.
You need not put God anywhere in this discussion - leave God totally out of this for a moment.
Just look at mother nature herself. If you put a cat and a ferret together in a cage, do they produce little babies? no. Why? because nature does not stamp her approval on it, thats why. And nature herself does not approve of the union of two men or two women, either.
Why not? Well, how about because you get the "circle of life" and basically throw it in the garbage can when you do that. Life wishes to produce life. That is what is natural, and it doesn't take any belief in God to see and understand that. Just a brain.
The fact is, that if it feels tickley-good in the drawers, hey lets do it. We live in the anything goes era. There is no thought of right or wrong anymore. If we can do away with consequence, we can do away with the definitions of right and wrong as well. Thats what is happening. Lets make it so uncomfortable for someone to call being gay wrong, that they won't do it anymore, and then viola! wrong becomes right.
I do not need one single verse from the Bible to see that its wrong for two men to have sex together.
Since the homosexual agenda knows full well that they have to indoctrinate the next generation to be gay, since they cannot reproduce, what will they do? Well, its what they ARE doing: If they make it "right" to be able to adopt, they can dispose of the argument that they cannot help along the circle of life. Oh, you think there isn't any agenda for indoctrination? You haven't read the news article this past week, I quess, where a school forced its students to attend classes on explicit sexual instruction for homosexual sex? Yep, the students were made to sign a paper stating they promise not to tell their parents or any other adults about the classes, that it was "our secret".
The school admitted it, since the letters the kids signed was on the schools own stationery. They apologized. Its not okay to force prayer in schools ,but its just fine to force little children to hear about the proper way for a penis to be inserted into another mans anal cavity. Thats just great. Yep, you guys sure are making the world a much better place. You say people cherry pick what they wish from the old testament?
I say what the homosexual agenda is doing is in absolute defiance of nature itself. And this being okay from those of you who believe so passionately in evolution?
If nature was responsible for all of this, and no God was ever in existance, then by going against nature itself, you are fighting your own basic principals of life and its origin. You go against all of it. You defy it.
Is nature a myth, too? Is Science a myth too?
Let me tell you one thing that IS WRITTEN IN THE WORD OF GOD:
In the manuscripts:
Eve was beguiled by satan and had sex with him. Adam was beguiled, too. He was tricked by satan into thinking eyes would be opened and the wisdom of the world would be his. I submit to you that Satan is still using the same old tricks as he did in the Garden. And you are so dumb that you fall for it, hook, line and sinker - hey, you feel a tickle in the old panties and whatever is in front of you should be screwed I quess.
No consequence. Nature tried to provide you with one called Aids, but you pass that off as what? oh, a coincidence......
That coincidence is killing off hundreds of thousands of people each and every day, Einstein. Ya wanna be gay? Hey, go be gay. I am sick and tired of trying to explain to people simple truth that is right in front of their eyes, and yet they are as blind as bats.
The fact is, you don't want to hear truth, you want to hear that whatever feels good is okay to do. Well don't hold your breath waiting to hear that nonsense from me.
Someone who truly cares for you, wouldn't lie to you and say that its right when its wrong. Like my mom used to say: "the one true friend you have will tell you if your slip is hanging".
