This is the reason that I believe in God. I believe in duality. If there is not - than there is. Everything that exist is dualistic. It is like arguing what can first the chicken or the egg. I think they came simotaneously because one can not exist without the other. Like two sides of a coin. Now I grew up in a family of scientist and anyone that understands physics should understand this concept as well. There is a Negative and positive in everything. Duality. The number 1 can not exist without the number 2. That is what I was trying to ask here:

But people just assumed what I thought and what I did not think.
The point was - a belief system is a belief system. 1 + 1 = 2 is a fact. But no on can prove that there is or is not a God. So it is really all a belief system in the end.
So here is the Question - What makes your belief system better than religious peoples?

Beliefs are dangerous and harmful. The essence of faith is letting go of belief, and of letting go in general. You can't simultaneously be aware of what is and have a set of beliefs about it, because reality transcends our beliefs about it.

Interesting that you should mention duality. The Tao Te Ching says some interesting things on the subject, I recommend it. It's short, you can finish it in one sitting.

Good luck, I hope you find something good in your search for truth. Just remember that what you're really looking for, you already have. You just don't know it.

Belief system ≠ Religion

I read your first question, but chose not to respond to it. It relies on a major logical fallacy, namely, the Fallacy of Redefinition. You redefine the term "God" to mean "system of belief". These two terms are not synonyms, although you use them as such.

It appears that you're confusing physics with metaphysics. Duality is a metaphysical concept. Positive and negative charges are physical phenomenon. It is incorrect to apply the rules that govern metaphysics to physics, and vice versa.

The statement that a belief system is a belief system is tautologically true, but it does not imply that all beliefs are created equal.

I maintain that my beliefs ARE superior to those of religious people, in that they are closer to objective truth, as indicated by conformity to objective evidence and predictive ability. This does not imply that I am a better person than anyone else, only that my beliefs are more accurate.

I'm not the most scientific person on the planet. I'm pretty good at biology, earth/space science and environmental science, but to be honest--I'm rubbish at chemistry and physics. So suffice to say, while I believe the big bang and evolution took place, I'm not the best person to ask to try to fully explain it.

So it's not science that really caused me to disbelieve in God. Logic does make my belief a bit more solid, but really, it was going to church and feeling nothing. It was all the unanswered prayers. It was the disappointment I felt when, while talking to God, I hadn't even felt the slightest bit uplifted or enlightened. It was the big sense of feeling alone, even while I had faith He was there.

So I came to the conclusion that faith was leading me no where and certainly wasn't making me any happier. If I were to believe in God, I wanted Him to be present somehow in my life. I eventually learned to depend more on my family and friends for comfort instead, and my need for a God to talk to vanished, as did my belief that He was ever there to begin with.

Sorry for the sappy confession, but it's true.

Im leaning towards atheism, because if God really cared about this world, then poverty, corruption, and ignorance would not be so prevailant, i dont buy into the sin story, you are responsible for your own actions, no point in blaming other factors like sin or satan or God.

oh and 1+1 only equals 2 if you go by the rules of basic math, if you go by the rules of quantum physics, 1+1 can equal negative fifteen if you want it to.

It is not reasonable to believe in things without evidence. That does leave room for evidence to show up, but with no evidence the odds of something that people just made up being right are prohibitively low.

It is no more reasonable to believe in your god than Odin, Thor, Osiris, Anubis, Zeus, the Invisible Pink Unicorn or any of the thousands of others since the evidence is identical. Do you feel that it takes any faith to disbelieve in any of them?

The truth is that atheist don't believe that there is a God becuz there isn't enough evidence. They don't need theist to convert them. Even though Jesus told us to spread his word, we shouldn't force people to convert. God wouldn't want them to convert anyways. That's why he gave us free will. If the don't believe it's their fault. All we have to tell them is that Jesus is our lord, and if they don't believe, move on.

~~~diggy ,,,,"Better than"???? Poor choice of words. Religion is full of nonsensical dogma which cannot stand up to honest scrutiny without the devotee scrambling to their Sanctuary of "Faith". If it is SO EASY for A Beleiver to denounce others as False Gods then it shouldn't be so difficult to understand that I accept one less god they do.
I'm not sure I understand your last question...
"What makes your belief system better than religious peoples?"
That's your question as it is written. Here's my question...
How can a belief be better than a person?
I never said that not believing in god is better than believing in him. I just hate when people tell me I'm going to burn in hell because of it. That's all. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, and it's not my job to tell you what to believe. I don't want to force my beliefs on anyone, but I will defend myself if I am verbally attacked for them.
I'm Lina-chan, and I don't believe in god.
When the question is something vs. nothing, in the absense of evidence the default position is nothing.
God does not exist because he is possible. He exists because of philosophical and logical proofs.
