This little girl looks up to you . I know it can seem annoying. There is a positive side to all of this. She idealizes you even may emulate you. She thinks you are cool you are her older sister. I was there once I was 12 years old and my sis was 2 she . Now she is 14 and I am almost 24 though 10 years apart I help raise her. She is every bit as wonderful of a young woman for having a positive role model and strong influence on her life. She still looks up to me to this day and I would not have traded this for the world. Just be patient and remember you were 6 once and looked up to some one ... Think how much it might Herta to be blown off or pushed away from the one person you look up the most. I have a four year old son who emulates me now. When I see him do some thing great I know it was because of me being his guidance and his teacher as well as his mother and friend... There is a saying you may enjoy it goes like this.
My little sister
My little sister is a newsies
My sister is a pain
If it were up to me
I would leave her out side in the rain
But don't you tease my Lil sis
or be mean to her at all
Cause I will stick up for my little sister
Because she thinks I am ten feet tall...
I hope this helps you to understand that she loves you , she thinks your cool and even wants to be more like you
Do the right thing as a sister and find time for her at least once a day...What more important thing do you have to do than to be a role model.
Your hair , your friends, the computer, the phone , school, a boy... None of these things mean as much as family....

You're her big sister. She's going to look up to you for the rest of your life. For now, yes, its annoying, but as she gets older, she's going to ask you for advice on makeup, boys, etc. Then, its going to become fun. For now, compromise with her. Say, "Ariel, I'll play outside with you for an hour now, but when we come back in, let me have some alone time." Once she relizes that you actually played with her and had fun, she'll leave you alone for a while. Good Luck!

First question you should be asking is why is she doing this. Has the family unit changed ? Is one of the other siblings picking on her, I know she is a pain but she is only six and you should be trying to understand , not being selves and about putting your life on hold .What you do can have a long lasting effect on your sister handle her with care.

She is at the age where she is looking for a role model and someone to shadow....and it sounds like the lucky person is you! I think all siblings go through this at some point....it is a sign of flattery. She admires you because you're older and "cooler" and she wants to be like you! There are nice ways to tell her to back off without hurting her feelings....and maybe you could set aside some time where just you and her could do something together.

Trust me as she gets older she will get less clingy. I have a little sister and she is 14 and up to now she is clingy. she is always on my bed. always using my things and never asking me but eventually you will get past the stage where she is completely driving you mad and come to appreciate the little things she does. Eventually you will come to like her hanging around because you might end up depending on her as well to get you out of a jam. This will pass trust me she will soon grow up just wait it out

Be flattered. She obviously looks up to you the most. play with her some, listen to her talk, laugh at her stupid jokes (I'm a little sister, so I know how she feels). but then when you have to get to work on something, politely tell her you gotta get busy. Remember, someday, something horrible might happen to her. And you're going to be wishing her back, in all her annoying silliness.

sometimes little brothers and ESPECIALLY little sister look up to their older siblings. I know it might be annoying but she won't be 6 forever. Maybe she just wants to spend a little time with you. You could say how about we play for 30 minutes then, play with her and then do your normal things. if she keeps asking say i will play with you later if you be patient if your not patient i won't wnat to. good luck!

That's the way she uses to identify with you. Older sisters become role models for the younger ones. She might even try sometimes to use something that is yours. I know it must be hard for you (I went thru that also) but try to be patient and loving to her and every now and then tell tell her that you love her and you are proud of her.

She loves you and looks up to you. Just be nice to her. Let her do your hair, maybe throw a couple snow balls at her to make her happy. Try to remember when you were 6.
