Dying your hair does damage it after several applications. Just make sure that you condition it regularly. Most dyes come with a conditioner that is very recommended. I wouldn't dye it anymore until its healthy again.

If you have been dyeing your hair at home frequently, then yes it is damaging to your hair. Home hair dye kits don't have the same kind of formulas as the ones you get from dyeing in the salon. Furthermore, a professional is doing it for you so they know how to treat your hair without drying it out and damaging it. You should go to the salon and get your hair treated and fixed or you'll end up with fried hair and also breaking it.

Just a word of caution... if you are coloring your hair that often, it would be worth the money of getting a professional to treat it now before your hair has any further damage.
Now a word of warning... DO NOT have any chemical treatments (perms, chemical straighteners) done if you are coloring that often. My sister was addicted to coloring her hair (herself!!) and decided to go really light one time. Contrary to what my mother warned her about (both my mom and my aunt are hairdressers), she wanted a perm as well and didn't wait to have it done. (You have to wait at least a week but I would NEVER mix color with other chemical treatments!). As she and her best friend were taking the perm rods out, clumps of her hair began to fall out.
I don't think I've ever seen anyone so freaked out before in my life. When her husband came home, she just wept hysterically and had him use electric trimmers to literally shave her head. (She doesn't color anymore, just highlights, and her hair is such a pretty chestnut with natural curl, not too tight. I think she looks great now!)
I'm really self-conscious about my hair and have discovered one thing... Nothing looks and feels better than your own healthy, natural hair. (But it took me 40 years to figure that one out!) But if you must color, it's worth the money to have a professional do it. Anytime you do color, it should accentuate your own natural color. (Highlights are great if you want something a little different.)

Best of luck,
Mon :-)

yes dying your hair too frequently is not good for the hair.. not only does it make your hair dry, it can also weaken your hair and damage it.. hair loss could be another problem.. it's important to take proper care of your hair. when you dye it, use the right hair products that will care for your hair and would be good to give your hair a break sometimes..

Yes it looks good now but when you get older it makes your hair thinner as you go. My mom did hers so much it has killed her hair. I dont tell her but, it looks bad.

Yes, anytime you use chemicals on it "professionally" or not, it is bad for your hair.

yes. Especially if you don't get it done professionally. Take a break chica and pamper your hair.
