south asia is divided into many parts by physical barriers and due to this the people in early times were not able to contact with each other resulting in variety of langages. for example in India only there are 18 languages(these are recognised by the govt. there are much more)

Because India is in South Asia and they have a ton dialects, Pakistan has a few languages,etc
