It is unusual for a cat who has been held and petted a lot to sink their claws into the person doing the petting. That said I have a 15 year old that has never drawn her claws in when slapping at me or anything else. She just has an attitude! She is the first cat I have ever owned who does that.

My cat was gentle and lady-like but she dug her claws when using my lap as a launching pad for jumping to the floor. It wasn't intentional she just didn't understand. Some cats are smarter than others.

I think cats all have different natures just like humans. One of my cats is 16 and has never scratched or bitten. Yet one of my other cats would take your face off if the mood took him! I have 4 cats all treated the same and yet all totally different. Make the most of your lovely cat!

My cat is the same, she likes people and is very friendly. they can sense if a person likes or dislikes them. My cat usually goes to most of my friends and if she avoids some one, then I know that person doesn't care to much for cats and she stays away. Your cat seems to love her family and is happy, she knows your children are only playing.

You have a very sweet kitty. Thank your lucky stars, and spoil her a little bit. I have a kitty almost the same way, but she's a little too crazy to be considered in the same field.

Cats dig their claws in - its called kneeding. they did this to get the milk out of their mother, i thought cats still did it because they were weaned to early. Some cats do it when they are content and happy. my neigbors cat does this but mine dont! Thank goodness! it hurts!
