I am an artist who does paintings about faith and hope and belief, and pictures about children. I also have been recently diagnosed with lupus. I am also a 4th and 5th grade teacher. I need help coming up with orginal ideas to paint, because it is what I love to do and helps keep me focused. If you know where I can get some orginal ideas, I would really appreciate it, or if you have suggestion.

I, too, love to draw. When i find that I have a "creative block" I find a single object such as a clothes pin, or an old boot, or the handle to a spoon or a key pad to a cell phone...anything really. Then scan or take a pictire of it and enlarge the image at least 300 X ! Then focus in on a section of your object and paint that. Make for some really interesting compositions and helps you to see things in different perspective. Have fun!

I don't paint, but I do draw and when I'm fresh outta ideas I try going for walks to places in my city Ive never been too. I watch people and what they do and sooner than later I have a basic idea that grows when I put pencil to paper. Look at what you have done already and try to figure out what you havent...or try to put some of them together to make them new again!

One thing for certain you need to get out probably in wilderness, as an artist I often find that it inspires me how great thou art indeed. If you just sit by a water fall on any day and watch how everything around you so alive and see that how great indeed nature is believe me you'll refresh for new ideas. Works for me every time,especially in jewellery designs. I do designs for Tiffany & Company, it all started out in the wilderness with an idea I can put these thoughts into three dementions, hope that helps.

Yeah why don't they? I cant draw anything on the computer it jst doesnt work lol! As much as I want to save trees i'd rather draw and paint on paper. Also i think you can express yourself better on a canvas ot paper than if you were drawing something on the computer!!

I never run out of ideas what to paint..ever since I started paint songs...for instance I'll listen to a song and think about it and how I would paint it...I also teach art

I dont know what sort of children you draw but have you ever thought about drawing children with mental illnesses? I work with them and have found that their lives and perspectives tend to bring new ideas into my art. Try different variations on what you love to do. there's always more then one side to things, so why dont you try to express that in your art?

Is there anything that you have passionate opinions about right now? Anything in politics? Global Warming? Anything that you feel passionately about can be turned into art. In my own life, I have an inner struggle with myself aging(the wrinkles and gray hair mostly), so I have worked on paintings dealing with that struggle. Find something that you struggle with, or that you feel strongly about and go with it. The inspiration should flow from there.
