Depends on the crime. If he was speeding and ran, they probably would have let him go. If he just shot a cop, they would probably chase him through a mall.

Your kidding me, right? You think that if an innocent by-stander was hurt that the Police Department, the officers, the mayor, the police chief and anyone else remotely invovled would be sued with in an inch of their lives; you are completely unaware of politics today.
High speed chases are only maintained under certain circumstances, which vary from city to city and state to state.
I can not see the reason why a police officer, or a suspect for that matter, would attempt to have a high speed chase in an area that is absolutely blocked with traffic....or even HOW they managed to do it.
IF the suspect was a dangerous and violent criminal and the police were attempting to apprehend them before they hurt someone else....and that someone else ended up being you or someone you love....what side of the argument would you be on then?
"WHY DIDN"T THE COPS CATCH THIS GUY WHEN THEY KNEW WHERE HE/SHE WAS AT? THEY SHOULD BE MORE RESPONSIBLE!!"
or
"GEE, I'M REALLY GLAD THAT THEY DIDN'T CARRY ON WITH A HIGH SPEED CHASE, THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN SCARY FOR ANYBODY INVOVLED. I/(PLACED LOVED ONE'S NAME HERE) WILL RECOVER/LIVE BUT BE DISABLED/HAVE A NICE BURIAL, REGARDLESS..."
In other words, I am sure the police department is sorry that you were subject to being slightly startled by the high speed chase...but you have no idea if this idoit they were chasing had a love for committing violent crimes. God forbid, if you car gets a little dented or scratched, sue like the rest of America would.
Until then, show a little respect for the people who put their lives on the line to protect you.

I believe I was in that same traffic jam.
I understand that sometimes there are offences for which the police absolutely has to catch the person right then and there.
The two people in the car were adult males, no children, no hostages.
I agree they should have been more responsible. Although, you have to admit, Chicago is still far from LA high speed chases, they hardly ever happen and it's just as well.

Even if the cops broke off the chase it does not mean that the individual would slow down.
Chances are if that many officers were involved the person did something pretty serious to warrant a chase at that level. I would rather to police chase a felon and get them off the street.
If a known mass murderer was being chased should the police stop the chase and potentially allow that person to get away and kill again, or chase him down when they have a chance?

the only ordinance you probable breaking could desire to do with public gatherings. previous a distinctive length, you're required to get facilitates with the point to maintain public events (and confident I are responsive to this is very own, interior the feel that it fairly is by employing invite-purely, yet while this is outdoors and extensive sufficient it ultimately will become a public impediment). The trouble is that the specified legal regulations for the form of project are set by employing way of character cities and counties. So what you want to do is pass each and each of how down on your community branch of presidency and ask if youin case you would be able to desire to report a permit of a few variety to host this social gathering. All that mentioned, on the topic of the only punishment for strolling an journey devoid of wanted enable is having the social gathering close down, and likely getting fined later. Having your homestead seized is utter rubbish, and in reality the cop is stupid for asserting that because of the reality if there is an dilemma later, that is utilized on your want.

Or we could be very irresponsible and let the guy get away. Then maybe some unsuspecting person - maybe yourself - gets off the freeway only to find the guy they were chasing holed up in someone's house until the heat died down. He's holding you hostage maybe playing with a young daughter just home from school......Terrifying scenario right? It could happen then you'd be yelling "Where are the police?" Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

THAT QUESTION IS ASKED OFTEN. If there were "15" cruisers, per your account, behind the vehicle, there was a serious crime committed. Answer me this-someone breaks into your house and shoots your mother. What happens? You call 911. They chase the person who is driving away at high speeds. Would you care that the officers broke the speed limit to catch the person who killed your Mother?

Do you know what the offense was of the person they were chasing? Maybe this person was a murderer, I understand your concern about safety and I agree that they should take every ones safety into consideration, but they really can't choose the best time to chase down a criminal. I've seen on TV where they are chasing down criminals for different reasons and some are just not worth the safety of everyone else. And other times it is necessary.

The police only pursue those who are a danger to society. You should thank your lucky stars that you live in a country where the police give a darn.
Stop whining......
