I`ve been at the gym for 3 months now, and not seen many changes in myself but i have lost 10pounds. My clothes feel lose now, but I`m working on losing more weight.

My problem areas are my thighs and stomach. What should i be doing to work on these?

I use the stair master, elliptical trainer, cycle, inner and outer abductor machines, lift 5lb weights for my arms, i do 100 crunches, and i go to the gym for an hour 5 times a week.

Should i increase the time spent at the gym?

It sounds like you're doing everything right at the gym, although you may want to increase the intensity on the cardio if it's getting too easy.

How's your diet? Are you eating healthy? It's alright to cheat a little, but you should try for 6 smaller meals a day. Make sure you're eating the proper amount of lean protein, vegetables, fruits, fats and whole grains. Most of the time, you need to modify this a bit to see the weight loss. Don't cut out a meal, just cut down on the junk food and make sure you're drinking plenty of water. You may want to start drinking more green tea, as its been proven to help dieters lose more weight.

Best of luck!

I can tell you from my own experience and that of my daughter, and from recent articles I've read, that walking or running is the best exercise for slimming the abdominal area. Because of the exercize you're doing, you are building up the muscles in those areas. That's a good thing. But in doing that, the fat that is on top of the muscles remains until you are at optimum weight.

You said your clothes feel loose and you've lost 10 pounds. You've probably lost more than 10 pounds, but in building up your muscles, you're going to gain weight because muscle weighs more than fat. Also keep in mind that some of us will never have skinny thighs; it's a matter of genetics and is very hard to overcome. But if you're firm and in shape, you'll still look good and be healthy!

Congrats on your self-discipline and your success so far!! :)

I've found that the abductor/adductor machines are basically worthless. You can get a far better leg workout with a variety of squats, lunges and step-ups - you can also modify the step-ups to where you're stepping up sideways to work the inner and outer thighs (i.e. stand sideways next to an elevated step & cross your outer leg over to the step and bring yourself up with that leg - do 10-15 then switch legs).

Also remember that your body will adjust to any workout regime after a few weeks, so do a variety of exercises with different #s of sets, different speeds, etc.

You shouldn't have to spend more time at the gym, but you should switch up your work out every now and then ... you should do more toning on your stomach and legs, add on some different exercises so you work all your muscles in your legs and abs
