My aunt grow up in times when girls would straighten their hair with the the iron that you iron your clothes with. all you do is just lay your hair on an ironing board and put it at the lowest temp and she puts Biosilk to protect her hair and just iron it or have a friend do it. When I was little I saw her do it to her girlfriend and it worked. Thank goodness she now owns a CHI

I agree with the Irish chick....just make the most of it and try out different styles until you manage to get the straightener back. They must know that it is your life line! Learn to live without it sometimes and maybe they will not take it away next time (hopefully there won't be a next time). Besides, hair stylists will tell you that you should give your hair a break from time to time from the straightener because of the damage they can do. I have a Chi straightener and have to use it to fix my super curly hair....but I get tired of the same old thing all the time and just go natural or wavy sometimes...and people always say my hair looks good....like I made this big change or something, and really all I did was scrunch some product in it. Just have fun and maybe your punishment won't feel so bad :)
***I just thought of this...my little sister, who is in high school, had a very expensive flat iron which she dropped and broke...because of this, my parents won't buy her another one. She has to work with a cheapy. And her hair is beautiful! I also went years without a nice straightener and somehow managed to survive. I always used a hair dryer that had a brush attached to it...since I am not that talented and I don't think I could ever juggle a paddle or round brush and dry at the same time. Afterwards, to make my hair more sleek and the ends go under, I used this other cheap thing made by Clairol that looks like a curling iron with bristles, but switches on like a hair dryer (Wal Mart) Or maybe borrow something from a friend that he/she doesn't use all the time? Or have a friend bring theirs to school and on your break/lunch fix your hair? And you don't have to wash it everyday, either...any stylist will tell you that washing every day strips your hair of its natural oils, making it dull and damaged. So if you really flatten your hair out well using a friends iron...it could last you 2-3 days...just clip it up when taking a bath, working out, or whatever...a rubber band would mess it up.

Huh...well that's an interesting punishment. The best I can tell you is to use some straightening cream. Do you have a curling iron? I know it sounds weird, but a curling iron can actually make your hair straighter too. In the old days they used an iron to straighten their hair...but you'd have to be really really careful with that. If you don't have any access to any heat products I'd just suggest straightening cream and brushing your hair straight with a big paddle brush every 5-10 minutes or so.

you can use a blow dryer and a paddle brush. you'll have to put the dryer on high heat, and use the brush to hold your hair straight while you concentrate the heat on it. you can also use a round brush, but it's going to take quite a while to get the same affect as using the flat iron. also, there are shampoo's and conditioners that are supposed to help get your hair straight. Loreal makes some that are supposed to be good.
I don't understand why your parents would take away your flat iron, that just seems kind of mean.
Best Wishes.

Why don't you try a different hairstyle, other than straightening? Curl it with curlers or a curling iron, use scrunching gel, twist it up with ponytail holders or clips, or just let your hair be natural, with a few clips at the sides.

hmm. that could be tricky. OK. well you can have wavy hair by braiding every peice of hair when its wet- that makes it curly. Doesnt do the same as a straightner but it still looks nice. Otherwise. Blow dry your hair that works very good too!

That sucks. Left it on all day too many times?
How about the family iron? That will look pretty funny though. Maybe if your parents see you doing it, they will have mercy on you. Good Luck!

Use a straightening shampoo, or get it chemically straightened. Chemical straighteners will do it permenantly, but it will grow out as you grow new hair.
