He used to sing all the time, but hasn't sung in nearly 3 months. He is in a well lighted area, and seems healthy and energetic. He eats well.

Canaries sing when they are happy, healthy and comfortable... have you been paying a lot of attention to him? does he have a mate? Maybe you should get him one! Or you could add some new toys to his cage, and put his cage outside in the sun for awhile and let him soak up the sun! The natural Vitamin D will increase his mood no doubt! Just make sure you don't leave him out for too long unless he has a shady spot in his cage to go to. GOOD LUCK

this may sound like a strange answer, but it really will work. go to your walmart store. there is a section with harmony music. in my store it's near the candles. find a tape / CD with bird songs. play the tape whenever you want. i suggest playing it when your out. this will give your canary someone to talk with. it's possible your canary is lonely and needs a companion. winter can be a depressing time.

i know your thinking this is crazy, but imagine your the only person on the planet, after awhile you would get pretty depressed, and desperate for another human voice. this is how your canary feels.

good luck.

nicely have you ever had it for 5 days yet? if so perchance the little poultry is scared and does no longer opt to sing, pretty if there is yet another puppy in the living house it will be protecting quiet so as now to not convey interest to himself. perchance also he remains to youthful to sing.

just open the doors of cage....and you will see him singing again...! he is bored off alone in the cage. you can bring a partner for him and it'll sing beautifully..try thr second option first.

Let him out of his cage for a bit of time, see if that helps.
